We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmen Love and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jazmen, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to start my own business because I wanted to be in control of my time. Having to get approval for days off or vacations never sat right with me. I figured starting my own business would give me that control.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a wigmaker/wigstylist , what sets me apart from others is I create high quality custom units that will meet the needs of those who love to wear wigs and I offer free wig installation services on select units . I have a physical suite where clients come in a fitted for their custom units. I am excited about being at the stage of business where I am getting closer to my audience and engaging with them to see how I can further meet their needs. To get to where I am today it required dedication. I had to get comfortable with rejection and overlooked. Now that I am getting more recognition , I appreciate the fact that I didn’t give up from the start. To get to where I am today requires one to be teachable, and remember there are no such thing as losses but lessons. I want the world to know that I started Manecraft because I understood that one size doesn’t fit all and Manecraft is about tailoring custom wig units for all unique head shapes , and individual styles. I understand how frustrating it is when you purchase a wig online in the style stat you wanted and it may not be a comfortable fit which is the problem we love to solve at MANECRAFT.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to the Apache Lounge on spoken word/ poetry night. We definitely have to go shopping at some point, and stop by one of my favoritie restaurants in ATL which is Houston’s.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely want to give a shout out to all my friends and family who have encouraged me to stay focused and keep going. Also , the mentors that I have had along this journey, Tee at Stylish Boss Academy , PeachCity Photography , just to name a few. Listening to motivational speakers such as Eric Thomas and Myron Golden keeps me going as well .
