We had the good fortune of connecting with Javaris Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Javaris, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor I would say is my hunger. I want to have my schedule booked with events that I have to attend. I can’t ever be satisfied with doing less. I strive on versatility, because I feel that the more skills you bring to the table, the more of an advantage you have against your competitors in the market field. You have to have that drive to go out and get it by any means necessary. The sports media market is very big but it can be very challenging to get your foot in the door, if you don’t have the connections or willingness to be successful.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So since the last interview I did with you guys a lot has changed! I still have the same love for sports of course, but I am now currently interning with the Columbus River Dragons, a hockey team in the Federal Prospects Hockey League in Columbus, Georgia. I have been learning so much from them in the forms of Sports Management and Marketing even under my title as a Game Operations intern. I feel that I got this far within my career from just networking with literally everyone. It’s literally not what you know, it’s who you know and I strongly believe in that. The thing that sets me apart from others is that I’ve accomplished so much while still at a young age. Which is why I’m eternally grateful and humbled to be able to have achieved so much all before graduating college.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to first give all the glory and praise to God, who is the head of my life. Without him nothing in my career this far would have been possible! Then my amazing loving parents, who continuously work hard and sacrifice day in and day out to make sure I have the resources in order to be successful in life. I can’t forget my supportive intermediate and extended families! I love all of y’all! And also showing love to my mentors and colleagues from literally everywhere! Y’all are the reason I push myself to go as far as I can! And lastly, to my internship family of the Columbus River Dragons! You guys rock! Thank you for everything and more! And also shoutout to all of Clayton County, Georgia!
