We had the good fortune of connecting with Javan Anderson & Rob Malloy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Javan Anderson & Rob Malloy, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Our business, Pops and Son Conversations, serves as a bridge for meaningful dialogue and understanding between generations, specifically focusing on father-son dynamics. By highlighting personal stories, shared experiences, and deep conversations on important topics, we aim to inspire other families to strengthen their relationships and open up about their own challenges and triumphs.

We create a space where listeners can learn lessons on manhood, fatherhood, and personal growth through real-life discussions. This helps foster a sense of connection and belonging, encouraging positive role modeling and demonstrating that vulnerability and wisdom can coexist. Our mission extends to promoting healthy conversations in families and communities, reinforcing the idea that open communication is key to growth and unity.

What should our readers know about your business?
Pops and Son Conversations is more than just a podcast—it’s a legacy project that brings together two generations to have candid, sometimes tough, but always necessary discussions about life, manhood, family, and growth. What sets Pops and Son apart is the authenticity and rawness of the conversations. The focus isn’t just on victories but on the moments that shape us, sharing struggles so others can see themselves in the journey and feel encouraged to start their own.

What makes us proudest is the community built around these conversations—people who reach out and share that something discussed impacts their lives. Seeing fathers and sons engage more openly, inspired by our dialogue, is the ultimate reward.

Reaching this point is not easy. It takes countless hours of planning, refining, and facing moments of doubt. The biggest challenge is balancing vulnerability with strength, sharing lessons without holding back for comfort. The drive to create an impact and inspire others keeps us going.

The most important lesson we learn is that authenticity wins. Audiences appreciate the unfiltered truth. Consistency is key: showing up even during difficult times builds momentum and trust.

Pops and Son Conversations is a platform for bridging generational understanding and celebrating growth. It’s not just about fathers and sons—it’s for anyone seeking deeper connections. This project is a testament to the power of conversation and the belief that legacies are built one story at a time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Blending culture, history, great food, and fun—must-visits would include Piedmont Park, Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park, and the High Museum of Art for a taste of Atlanta’s culture and history. Meals at local favorites like J. R. Crickets and rooftop drinks at SkyLounge would showcase the city’s vibrant food scene. For adventure, we’d explore Fernbank Museum and hike Stone Mountain Park. Evenings at Ponce City Market and live music at Apache XLR would keep the energy up. We’d end with brunch at Sun in My Belly and a stroll through Atlanta Botanical Garden, closing with dinner at South City Kitchen to celebrate an unforgettable week.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We have to give credit to the foundation of our journey—our family. The support, wisdom, and example set by those who came before us have been invaluable. The shoutout goes to the strong figures in our lives who taught us resilience, responsibility, and the importance of honest communication.

Additionally, we want to recognize the community that has surrounded Pops and Son Conversations—our friends, mentors, and everyone who’s encouraged us along the way. To the audience who engages with our conversations and shares their stories, thank you for making this more than just a show; you’ve helped us create a movement.
