We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Paul and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my business was answering the pain point I had. Debt! I didn’t understand how it would take me years to pay off a degree that took 3.5 years to accomplish. After years of writing blogs and seeing people’s finances transform from little nuggets I shared, I launched CreateFinStew. We’re on a mission to transform 10,000 wallets by 2025.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do, what sets you apart from others and what are you most proud of?
CreateFinStew solves the young professionals’ “I will be in debt forever mindset”. According to CNBC.com, the average American has about $38,000 in personal debt, excluding mortgages. Young professionals struggle financially to repay their debt. Creativity and generosity are at the core of our teachings. We offer phone consultations, group coaching sessions, one-on-one coaching and family reunion drop-ins to transform financial wellness. Over time, small adjustments, coupled with sound financial decisions, our clients create consistent behaviors to develop financial wellness and wholeness.
We’ve helped eliminate $188K in credit card/student loan debt. Our clients have changed their financial narrative for generations to come. “Jasmine, I downsized and am now saving $50 extra a month!” or “We’re investing in our child’s future by living off one income.” These are real-life testimonials of people who are creatively transforming their finances. We use your creativity, your skills and talents to create financial strategies to promote financial wellness. We help you uncover what you already bring to the table to creatively transform your finances.
My most proud moments in business were an article in AfroTech, sharing my debt-free story, speaking at PodFest 2020, and launching my first book, Set Your Truth Free – highlighting the importance of creativity, mentorship, and healthy financial behaviors.
Normalizing money conversations is the mission of CreateFinStew. Our goal is to serve 10,000 families, and hopefully, some will be reading this article. You’re never too old or “late” to take charge of your finances. You can start today!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a homebody, especially now during COVID. I love a good potluck where we can hang on the patio, watch movies, play games, and genuinely have heart-to-heart conversations. Plus, it promotes good financial behaviors! A $30 meal at a restaurant is now a few bucks with a potluck. But when I was going out I loved eating at Negril Village!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this story to my mom, dad, and family for always pushing me to be creative! I am also thankful for the mentors who dropped nuggets and money wisdom along the way. Thanks to the writers of the ShoutOut Series for allowing me to share my story. Finally, I am thankful to Christ for transforming me creatively every single day.
