We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Hood and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Keeping my relationship professional with my clients. With being a massage therapist i get to know my clients personally, but i have to keep my boundaries. It’s easy to fall into that friend/client relationship and i always let them know that it’s business relationship. Whether the client is male or female setting those boundaries are important.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a mobile massage therapist in Atlanta, GA. It’s been over a year since I’ve done it and business has been great. Especially when the pandemic first hit, everyone was home and had time to get massages, so that really helped my business grow. I will say my first year was easy. I was doing deals and specials to get more clients, but now that’s out the window. Clients should have taken advantage of the deals I travel to Greenville, SC once a month and i have clients there too. I learned i only need to see 5 clients a day to keep my body well. I want people to know that massage is not a luxury it’s a necessity. We carry a lot of stress and tension in our bodies and massage is a way to release that. So that’s why I’m out here blessing bodies to let you know and remind you how important selfcare is, and that you only have one body, so take care of it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am the worst person to ask what’s to do or where to go, lol. I work and go home! I will end up asking other people that go out what’s to do. I’m not big on eating out. Some places i would go would be Ponce city market, the beltline, Edgewood, etc. Places where you can walk and go to more than one spot is my go to. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I just want to shout out my clients. Most of my clients i get are from word of mouth and i appreciate them bringing business to me! Joshua Griffin also deserves a shout out, he is an entrepreneur that wants to see everyone win and eat. He’ has taught me and hundreds of others how to trade stocks and invest in ourselves. He’s always giving me great business advice to help with my success and i appreciate him. He definitely deserves a shout out! George Harrison also deserves a shout out, my videographer/photographer turned friend who helps me with my business content is the best!
