Meet Jarius Brown | Social Media Manager & Real Estate Investor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jarius Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jarius, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Last year, I began the process of interviewing contractors to renovate my first investment property in Atlanta. During the process, I noticed that few contractors have social media accounts to properly display their work. As one contractor showed me ample examples of his work in his photo album, I decided it would be great to offer social media management services to him and other small construction companies in the area.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Underrated Social serves to provide social media management services to Atlanta based construction companies. We create personalized graphics, edit videos and handle customer inquiries across Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok platforms. Our motto is “You Build A Home, We Build A Brand,” which highlights our assistance in allowing contractors to focus on their projects and not worry about capturing content.
As many note, finding the first client has been the most difficult challenge to date. Thankfully, we recently begin working with A&G Tree Services and have began displaying their expertise across Instagram and Tik Tok. Going forward, we hope to onboard additional clients across different sectors of the construction industry. To date, the most important lesson is to just keep going regardless of the “no” you will receive from prospective clients or the self-doubt you may experience as a new business owner.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend is visiting in town, I would take them to Kat’s or Roc Steady on Thursday to experience live music and dancing. On the weekend, I would take them to the belt line or to a local festival which may be in town. Atlanta has a weekly variety of R&B based events, such as “The Groove,” so I would also take them to see a notable artist of their choice. Lastly, there are a number of beautiful nature trails which would be great to visit.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my Father. Growing up, he was creative, hardworking, and provided the blueprint for being a provider. As I went through college and as I currently pursue entrepreneurship, I often pull from memories of him speaking to youth in the neighborhood or completing numerous tasks around the house. I believe I pull my work ethic and creativity from him, and always hope to make him proud.
