Meet Jared Oates | Singer-Songwriter + Multidisciplined Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jared Oates and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jared, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued an artistic career because it allows me to express myself in a unique way. Creating music allows me to share my perspective, and experiences. It also gives me the opportunity to hopefully inspire others, which is incredibly fulfilling.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My love for music creation is at the core of who I am as an artist. What sets me apart is the depth and sincerity in my lyrics, which are often inspired by personal experiences and the complexities of the human experience. I take pride in crafting songs that resonate with listeners, blending elements of R&B and Pop to create a sound that is both contemporary and soulful.

I am most proud and excited about stepping out as a solo artist and releasing my debut EP entitled “On This Road” on August 1st. This music project is about becoming more self-aware, recognizing my strength and resilience, and embracing independence. Along the way, I came to the realization that God had already given me everything I needed to create music, and I didn’t need to rely so heavily on others to bring my vision to life. The journey to where I am today has been a mix of hard work, perseverance, and a passion for my craft. It hasn’t always been easy; there were challenges along the way that tested my resolve. However, I overcame these challenges by staying focused on my vision and continuously honing my skills.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the value of authenticity. Being true to myself and my artistry has allowed me to connect with audiences on a deeper level. I want the world to know that my music is a reflection of my journey, my dreams, and my desire to make a meaningful impact through my art.

My story is rooted in passion, perseverance, and the belief that music has the power to inspire, heal, and unite us all.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, we would definitely explore everything the Beltline has to offer. We would start on the Eastside Trail. It’s full of art installations and local restaurants. Exploring the Beltline’s art and cultural scene would definitely be a highlight. Throughout the week, the Atlanta Beltline would serve as a backdrop for a great visit, blending art, culture, recreation, and culinary delights to create lasting memories.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to two significant forces in my journey: my family and friends, whose unwavering support and motivation have been my pillars of strength, and Clark Atlanta University, for instilling me with the “Spirit of Greatness” that continues to drive my ambitions and aspirations. Their collective impact has been instrumental in shaping my path to success.
