Meet Janetta Williams | Owner/CEO/Candle Curator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Janetta Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Janetta, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Hi, my name is Janetta Williams, and I am the owner/CEO of Scentd Flame LLC. I have always been a candle lover at heart. I love how the different aroma blends can set the mood for whatever the vibe may be at the moment whether you’re looking to relax after a long day, an energy boost to get your day going, or a night of Netflix and chill.
I noticed over time that candles from some of the big name companies were starting to give me a headache which prompted me to start researching the ingredients of those products. With that research I knew that I wanted to create my own candles using more natural non-toxic ingredients. My candles are 100% organic soy wax, hand-poured in small batches, and created with love. My company currently offers candles, wax melts, and room sprays.

What should our readers know about your business?
Scentd Flame is black-owned company that provides creative candles with all natural ingredients. My candles are curated in a variety of sizes and styles to fit the need of candle lovers alike. On my website you will find candles that suits any mood. My favorites are my food collection as they look and smell exactly like that food item. They make you want to eat them!! However, I do not recommend that at all lol.
My journey as a business owner has not been that easy but I am continuously learning by trial and error as I go. The biggest challenge for me was being consistent with promoting my product on social media outlets. I have since implemented a few practices that would help track and keep SF’s social media presence consistent.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way was that SF had to be treated as any other 40hr a week business and had to be structured as such.
As Scentd Flame continues to grow I look forward to it being a household name for my fellow candle lovers.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to town for a week I would definitely make sure it was a week to remember. In my own hometown of Macon I would take them downtown to visit the historical buildings with rich culture. Also, would have a picnic in Tatnall square park near Mercer Univ. Go to the river and see the Otis Redding statue. Also, to the home of Little Richard in Pleasant Hill and go for a tour at the Harriet Tubman Museum. I would take them to eat at some of Macon’s staples like Nu Way and Johnny V’s. We would also take in a taste of downtown at some of the many restaurant options available. From there we would kick it up a notch and spend a vast majority of that time a little over an hour away in Atlanta where there are more options for fun(Top Golf, Andretti, Six Flags, Trap Museum, Paint n Sip, The Georgia Aquarium, etc), entertainment(taking in a concert, enjoying live music at places like Apache and Brownstone, etc) and as for food( The Capital Grille, Ruth Chris, STK, Views, etc)

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank God for loving me unconditionally and being a constant in my life. I would also like to thank my children, my sister, and my parents for always being my biggest supporters throughout this journey. Your time, effort, and continuous encouragement is truly unmatched. To my friends, family, and customers, Thank you for rocking with Scentd Flame. It really means a lot to have your support. Lastly, but certainly not least, Teresa Outley. Thank you so much for nominating my company for this interview. You are appreciated.
