We had the good fortune of connecting with Jameeka “JB” Price and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jameeka “JB”, what principle do you value most?
The value & principles that matter to me most is helping others & making an impact to somebody. Being a woman of purpose is the very thing that motivates me & keeps me ambitious & determined about everything that I pursue & do. Making sure that I lift up others as I myself rise up is the epitome of purpose & passion to me. Building a tribe & paving the way for those coming behind me is the legacy I seek to leave for others when I am gone. So the value of pouring into others & helping someone is the value that matters to me most. It’s not just about me, but the people who look at me & find inspiration in knowing they can overcome, succeed, heal, pursue goals, dream big, not be a product of life struggles & be the greatest person they set out to be in life.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what has always set me apart is the fact that I don’t keep myself in a box. I am a nurse, a pediatric dental assistant, a soon to be private pilot, a college student (future dentist in the making), business woman, mom, mentor, podcast host, & whatever else I set my mind on to do. Professionally, as an entrepreneur I am still learning & refining my businesses & still working on my bigger picture which is becoming a dentist. I currently work as a pediatric dental assistant which continues to motivate & excite my passion for dentistry & helping children. I am most proud of the fact that I came from a hard struggle growing up & a background of abuse of all forms, but I still walk up-right in life & choose to give love to the world & strive to be the best me I can be. Along the way one of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is the power of choice & that I am not what I’ve been through. Who I am today & every endeavor I set out to achieve has never been easy. But the 2 things that keep me going is knowing God has a purpose for my life, & that I can choose to be a better me every day in every way. That is my power. What I want the world to know about me is that I am a purpose driven woman with a past but also a future. If I can come from a bad past filled with turmoil, darkness & pain & turn that into power & use it as a testimony to inspire & help others, so can they.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Originally a NY Apple (born & raised), I must say the one thing Atlanta never does is cease to amaze me. From having some of the best food spots one can imagine to always being able to attend activities, I would start by going to eat at BQE, Breakfast at Barney’s, Suite Food Lounge, Garden Parc, Gocha’s, Or Milk & Honey for a nice daytime breakfast/brunch. Everything on the menu is amazing at these places. Activity wise Atlanta is filled with so many museums, horse back riding, the Georgia aquarium, ifly, paint & sips, top golf, hiking trails, zip lining at Banning Mills, kayaking, wine tasting tours, you name it. There is always something to do here. Night life there are so many amazing restaurants as well.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When I first moved to Atlanta I didn’t know anybody. I met Dr. Lauren Elise Simpson who openly welcomed me into her mentoring organization called “Adjust Your Crown Mentoring” as a mentee. She not only provided me with mentorship, but she gave me a safe space to grow & develop as a woman & mentor. She watered me like a flower. Holding me accountable while also giving me love, friendship & sisterhood & allowing me to know my worth, see my worth & embrace my power. Lauren was one of the very people in my life who poured into me in such a way that showed me my direct purpose in life was to help others & be a woman of valor & value, like her. She always saw my purpose & gifts & brought that out of me. She promoted me to a junior mentor position within the organization which developed me as a mentor where I now use my gifts to help other young women throughout their journey in life. After that became a mentor for Douglas County School Systems where I mentor middle school girls. Lauren has also allowed me to create community service events within her organization after seeing they community service is something I am passionate about. From that, I now hold a community service coordinator position for The National Society Of Leadership & Success, Sigma Alpha Pi Chapter on my campus. Lauren also has multiple businesses & has always been an exceptional business woman leading as an example that women can do it all & succeed. She has even helped me start my own 501c3 mentoring non-profit organization for teens. Everything I do today, she has encouraged & helped bring out of me. Lauren has been such a light to my life & many others. I am thankful to have been blessed with such a person to call a friend & sister. I wouldn’t be half of who I am today without her encouragement, love, laughter, support & overall belief in me & my purpose.
