We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaden McDaniel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaden, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly growing up I would have never thought that I would end up wanting to take pictures for a career path. But as I got older and really tuned into what my skills were, the big picture started to roll in. My business SubGalaxy Photography was officially created in August of 2019. The name comes from some old vine account I had back when vine was popular and it just stuck with me ever since. I’ve been taking pictures for some years now but I didn’t get really serious about it until after I graduated high school. I’m already a memory hoarder so being able to capture those moments people would want to see for possibly the rest of their life seemed so fitting.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
With SubGalaxy Photography, I want the people to know that anytime you book with me you’re getting quality photos each and every time. I’ve spent countless time devoted to finding my niche and not being all over the place. I used to want to do landscape photography way back in the day but then I really got into studio work as I learned the ways of doing your own shoots. I’m still learning and forever growing so I definitely want to say concert photography is the next thing I want to become grand at. The challenges I face with this career path are really mental. It can get very discouraging when you feel a piece of yours deserves more praise than it did. Even comparing yourself to other people in the same field can eat at your brain if you let it. I have my days where I feel like I’ve failed but I constantly remind myself that it’s really just the start of my life and there is plenty of time for the masses to absorb my work. I want everyone to know I am my brand and that’s why I take this to heart. I am happiest when shooting because I always just know the photos are going to come out amazing no matter the idea.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were to visit, we would definitely have to hit up Perimeter mall to do some quick window shopping. Then head to Little Five Points to go to The Honey Shop to buy some crystals or anything we may need to help further our mind. If we were hungry we would definitely have to go Fellini’s Pizza on Peachtree and it has been that specific one. Now if we just wanted to chill and just enjoy the life Piedmont park would be the spot to have a cute moment.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am ever so grateful to be so close to such amazing and like-minded people. My girls know exactly who they are but they have helped me so much along the way of my journey. Whether it be me using them as models, them hiring me to do pictures for their companies, being an inspiration, or just wanting quality pictures to have. They trust me enough to get the image right for them and I can’t thank them enough. The most important shout-out is my mom obviously. If it wasn’t for her being so understanding about how I want my life to play out and just always backing up my achievements like I would be down bad possibly. All these people are the ones that keep me going because if I’m up they are too and that’s just how it will forever be.
