Meet Jacob Allinson | Photographer & Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacob Allinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacob, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and raised in Arkansas. My parents and family are very artistic so I grew up around visual art my whole life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Some Lessons I’ve learned (and still have to make myself do) In this field, is to not overthink. That held me back for a while and would make me nervous to take jobs. I would be scared and think “what if they don’t like my work I do for them?”. I’ve learned to just be confident in what you do, and it will show in your work. Doing that helps for work come my way. Also, always be fun to work with. That helps a lot. Ha
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I love food. Probably too much, so I know I’d be wanting to take them to a lot of restaurants. Burgers are my favorite, so I know we’d start there… maybe Holeman & Finch. I also love to dance, so I’m sure at night, (depending on what friend it was that was in town) we end up at MJQ or somewhere like that.
Drinking wise, I’ve actually never drank in my life (crazy, huh?) so I guess Id have to ask a friend where to go, because im clueless on that end. Ha

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents definitely deserve credit. Even for just raising me in creative environments and in a creative household. It helped me be able to learn more at a young age than most, I believe.
Also, my old boss, Dero. He’s a commercial photographer and was the one who taught me photography lighting. It really helped me expand my skills and work.
