We had the good fortune of connecting with Jachaia Jenkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jachaia, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve always had a love for art and doing anything that puts me in a creative space. I find it so fulfilling to be able to create things with no bounds. I started diving into makeup as more of a hobby. It quickly became my place of escape. My passion quickly grew and I just knew there’s nothing I love more than makeup artistry.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve done makeup since I was a senior in high school. I started out with very little in my kit but a lot of passion in my heart to enhance others’ beauty. It’s been a long road the past few years investing financially in my kit, perfecting my skill set, and putting myself out there to gain clientele. Working with my clients has helped me get out of my shell and gain confidence in my abilities as an artist.

Since my start as an artist, I’m most proud of how much I’ve improved overtime with not only my skills but my professionalism. I’ve been blessed to meet all kinds of people doing what I do. I’m so excited for what the future holds for J.Aqui Makeup!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a pretty laid back, simple person. Chattanooga is very known for its beautiful scenery. We would definitely go on hikes, walks in the park, go fishing, go to Ruby Falls. I’m all for anything that’s near the water or involves getting some good fresh air.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not be in the space I am today without my family. All of their support has pushed me to continue my dreams in the beauty industry. From investing in my kit to even simply giving encouraging words has meant the entire world to me.
