We had the good fortune of connecting with J. Anthony “JAG” Grigger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi J. Anthony “JAG”, what are you inspired by?
God. Creativity. Love. Freedom. Pain. Peace. Dreams.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

You must see the GEM IN I to see the dimensions that set me apart from everybody. I am proud of all my art. Everything I have done within my artistry I am tremendously proud of. I will always say being a self-published author is always number one. Working for The RAWBJPODCAST is up there too. However, doing my spoken word titled “E.T. Phone Home – JAG’s Intermission” on THE QLIPHOTH album by Sev7en Taylor. My first time being featured as an artist on an album. I started the features off that album, so that means a lot. I would also have to say being in my first music video titled “BAGS” by indie artist Hemmingw8y. Those two hold weight and are what I Am proud of this past year.

I am most excited about what 2024 could be; because my present state wants so much more out of life. I want to become what I keep seeing in my dreams and visions with the people or person in my dreams. Get more into production, shooting, directing, more poetry, and more music.

Hell no it wasn’t. Hell no it won’t be easy. If it’s easy I don’t want it. Who really wants something easy? Easy things usually don’t last forever or long enough to really matter. Having rough patches makes you stronger and appreciative of the blessing you will get from your pouring.

I’ve overcome some of them through God, prayer, creativity, poetry, music, the people around me, and myself. But without a good village around you, you will starve. I love to eat.

I’ve learned so many lessons if I wrote them all down, we would be here forever, to be honest. I will say I learned that love is not enough, loyalty is not enough, and there isn’t enough money to make people authentically & genuinely happy.

I want the world to know my story all of my story. The story through my eyes that dropped tears to help the seeds I planted grow. I want the world to know that it’s okay to not be okay. Take some time for yourself. If you want to get to know me, it’s a blessing with privilege to get to know me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

There are many things to do in Atlanta, but if I Am being honest. I wouldn’t want to take them anywhere unless they wanted to go somewhere. Times have changed me and times are just different. I would rather do things in an intimate home setting. Games, trees, cooking some good soul food, watching some movies, creating some art, having some good laughs, taking some Polaroids, and so much more. Make some time capsule moments over going out. Going out is not as fun and it’s mad expensive.

I would rather us take a road trip on a tour bus or fly out of the country.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I want to dedicate my shoutout to God, to the beings God has put in my life who have uplifted me up, and of course myself.

Man, so many people deserve some credit. They should all know who they are. I don’t want to say names because I don’t want to single anyone out or forget someone.

I will shout out my big little brother Joseph Taylor, the creator and one of the hosts of The RAW BJ PODCAST. Thank you for shouting me out and making this happen for me. I appreciate you, man.
