Meet Imani Beal | Makeup artist & Henna Brow Tech

We had the good fortune of connecting with Imani Beal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Imani, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
One thing about me, I will take a risk. As a business owner, you have to be comfortable with taking different risk for your business in order to be successful!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Starting a business was probably the hardest thing I have done. From having the support from your own city, trying to gain clientele from a new city, and trying to stay positive when things are not going as you planned. I am a Makeup artist & Henna Brow Tech. I’ve been doing makeup for about 3/4 years and I’ve only been doing Henna brows for 2 months. I try to be versatile in both of my business so I can constantly attract clientele. You have to really stay positive and keep good spirits when starting a business because it’s not easy. You may have some good days and have 4-5 clients. Some weeks you may not have any at all. As long as you are consistent and keep the content up, you will always have somebody watching and wanting to book with you!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First I’ll take them to my illustrious campus of Alabama A&M Univeristy and see the history behind my HBCU. There’s this place called MELT in Huntsville that’s a really good brunch spot with good drinks and really nice scenery. It’s so many things to do in Huntsville to do, and things I still haven’t done. Like going to the peach cobbler factory, for a nice night out, you can head to CRU or Hammer Heads.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First my parents deserve the first shoutout! My dad invested in me in 2020, those first round of stimulus checks. He gave me his entire stimulus to jump start my business! Next is my college Bestfriend’s! They have supported me for the very beginning! I even have lash styles named after them, thats just how much they mean to me!
