We had the good fortune of connecting with Ifetayo Aziza Simmons and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ifetayo Aziza, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor for my success is my connection to the people I serve. Being a service based business, connections can make or break my business.

What should our readers know about your business?
The path to where I am today was an interesting one to say the least. Though I am currently a Reiki Practitioner, I have a range of skills under my belt. The journey was not as easy as I made it look. I’ve learned so much during that time span and I’m excited about my growth. 2016 was actually the year I first ventured into entrepreneurship with a business in skincare, in 2019 came the second in video production, and 2021 is when Thirteenth and Sage was born. Through Thirteenth and Sage I offer Reiki services in person and virtually, and also house an online shop. In my shop of healing I sell a variety of reiki infused products from soaps to orgone pyramids and herbal smoke blends.

One thing I am most proud of is my resilience and adaptability. It’s 100% how I overcame any obstacles in my path. I’ve learned most of all to remain flexible. There is always an opportunity to bounce back from any setback. As long as you keep the end goal in mind and stay focused, know that you will get to that desired point.

What I want to remind the world of through my brand is that your healing journey is exactly what you make it. The most beautiful part about it is that you can always look back and see how much you’ve grown. Believe in yourself always, trust yourself always.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Baltimore we would do a range of different activities from brunch to meditation and hiking. We would start with breakfast at a Baltimore staple, Miss Shirley’s. We’d then head out to do some shopping before catching happy hour and a bite to eat. For drinks, we would definitely have to visit Noir or Papi Cuisine. Over the weekend we would take a hike with WOCO Sound Healing and Hike before heading to brunch. I would have to take her to a small but lively BYOB joint in Fells Point, Twist. We Would hang out Downtown and spend some time at the Harbor. We’d end the weekend with Sunday Service Meditation with M.O.V.E. LLC.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to dedicate this shoutout to my parents. They above anyone else have accepted and supported me in all phases of my transformation into the woman I am today. They are the foundation. Without them there is no me.
