We had the good fortune of connecting with Hermean Shields and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hermean, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success and personal brand is that I have never measured my growth to another individual or business. I have always looked at success as a self conscious journey that only I can determine when I have achieved it!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Personal Guidance Coach who helps people on their journey through different chapters of life. No two people are alike so my approach is always different and catered to who I am guiding at the time. I am most proud that my journey of helping others has been a fire inside me that continues to burn. I am excited to continue to grow my brand and be a part of many more .
I got into life coaching after a regular hair client of mine would come into a salon I was working in in Minnesota and would talk to me about what she wanted to do (open a bed and breakfast) and why she was afraid not to do so. Well about 5 months past and I hadn’t heard from her and out of the blue she showed up with her husband. She introduced us and said “honey, this is the young women who has been listening to me and guiding me to believe in myself”. She told me that they took the leap of faith and opened their business. She is the one who suggested I become a coach. It took me many years to finally become a coach because I needed to believe in myself first! I would always say; how can I help someone when I’m still working on myself. One day it dawned on me that my life experience would help me to be empathetic and sympathetic to many life situations of many others and what better way to help people become better is to understand what it is like to be on a personal journey.
What I want people to know about me is that I’m not a perfect person but my heart and energy is sincere and I put my all into those who I have or will guide in the future.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh wow; there is so much we could get into, lol To start the week we would do a little thrifting at the local Goodwills on Northside Dr and Piedmont Rd!
We would definitely check out Ponce City Market because of the many shops, restaurants and roof top gaming for adults.
Food we would eat: Bar Vegan, ChiChi Vegan, Flying Biscuit and Flower Child
Entertainment: Putt Shack, Painted Duck and ride bikes on the Beltline

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout-out to my children; Samleek, Michael Jr, Daunte (R.I.H.), Kadaryne and Armel. They have sacrificed so much all while never questioning my reason behind every choice I have ever made. They have cheered me on, encouraged me through some of the toughest times and believed in me no matter what. I love y’all beyond words and thank y’all for allowing me to find what success meant to me while raising y’all to be who you want to be! Also there are so many others that have had such an impact through my journey that I can’t name them all. Thank you all!
