Meet Heather Abbott | Co-Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Abbott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Calvin Coolidge
“Nothing in the word can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not: unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My husband designs all of our product and then creates processes so it can be produced in an efficient and repeatable way. We started our business 14 years ago – he was a nurse with no formal training in design or manufacturing and I was a pharmaceutical sales representative. Our road has certainly not been an easy one- but it has been very rewarding. The largest challenges have been the need to continually adapt to market changes and being open to the need to change. We have learned how to scale, and grow while also realizing that may look like 3 steps forward and 5 steps backwards.
We want the world to know that you can! If you have a dream keep going after it. Our story is less about making unique, quality leather goods and more about finding what it is you were created to do. The persistence quote from Calvin Coolidge is our motto. We certainly did not set out to have a small batch leather goods company but here we are – and we love every aspect of it and all of the lessons we have learned along the way, including the hardships – pushing through difficult times is what takes you to the next level.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are very blessed to live in a community that has an amazing downtown, and a community filled with history. Here’s a list of must do’s:
Taste of Thomasville Tour
Pebble Hill Plantation
Jack Hadley Black History Museum
Hunt the Quail downtown
Big Oak
Jonah’s Fish and Grits
Liam’s
Sweet Cocao
Pasco Coffee Bar
Sweet Grass Cheese Shop
Q Cafe

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our Community, Thomasville, Georgia is an exceptional place where local stories are celebrated and encouraged. We have often said, if we had started our business anywhere else, we probably would not still be in business.
