We had the good fortune of connecting with Harmony Madison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Harmony, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Starting and running a business, along with anything else, can get hard at times. Sometimes those roadblocks make giving up seem so appealing, and it is often times the easiest thing to do. When I am met with these feelings, I try to remind myself that the process isn’t always going to be easy and I can overcome any challenge I am met with. I have a stack of cards with inspirational quotes and the one that I keep close to me reads “don’t let the fear of what could happen stop anything from happening”. As long as I love what I am doing, I try not to get crippled by fear. The paradigm shifts when I stop loving what I’m doing; that’s a clear sign that it’s time to move on.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Part of my brand promise is to always remain true to my values and enter into every professional relationship with honesty and transparency. Staying true to that has contributed to my professional growth. And I am still learning and growing. The journey is not always easy. Every hurdle that I reach is an opportunity to learn and grow, and each experience makes me stronger.
The last few years have shown me how resilient I really am. Every time I am successful in helping a dreamer move forward in their own journey and get closer to their goal my heart becomes full. I am excited about what’s to come and the impact my team and I will have on the community. I have few projects coming down the pipeline that I can’t share right now (don’t want to jinx it), but it will be amazing.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow! COVID makes this a difficult question to answer lol. I would definitely take them to one of my favorite brunch spots, Nanas Chicken-N-Waffles, Krog St., the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, Little Five Points, the Atlanta Beltline, and the Trap Museum. We would also visit downtown Decatur. Decatur Square has a variety of great restaurant and shopping options; stopping by Lenox Cupcakes for a desert is a must. I love the outdoors, so visiting one, or a few, of the many greenspaces and trails would be on the list as well.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people that have played a major part in motivating and supporting me and I am almost hesitant to name names. My family, my friends and many of my colleagues are always here to push me to be great and wrap their arms around me when necessary. My goal is always to surround myself with folks who will lift me higher.
