We had the good fortune of connecting with Haley and Alexis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Haley and Alexis, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision we have ever had to make is to walk away from touring due to financial reasons. We think it is so important to chase your dreams but, eventually, you have the wake-up call that chasing your dreams can not come at the complete expense of you having to eat. We toured for 8 years and put everything into our music and band. We finally got to a point where our bills were piling up and we had to make the tough decision to walk away from the thing we loved most, touring. We still release music and pursue music through digital platforms.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are an identical twin country-rock duo that wrote all of our own music. We formed our own band and traveled up and down the southeast without a single investor, manager, promoter, or any help from the industry. We started this journey entirely on our own having to learn to market ourselves, book ourselves, promote ourselves, write our own music ourselves, and form a band ourselves. We then would take the money made from playing shows to re-invest in promoting ourselves. Through working hard and the tenacity of never giving up, we were able to go from our grandmother’s basement playing music to playing small amphitheaters opening for national acts. From doing all of that, we were able to release a full-length album called, All In, as we truly were ” All In”. Like any good story, ours included a plot twist. The band started to break- up, the financing for touring dwindled, and we had to say goodbye to touring and our band due to the fact we had no investor or label. This led us to, for the first time, face the hard truth of having to do what society kept telling us to do and get quote-on-quote “real” jobs. We did not fully give up on music but went a digital route and started releasing songs through streaming platforms, which has been organically successful. Again, we want to thank Lee Davis and Lee Davis Studios for allowing us the ability to still release music.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Mostly, we are homebodies but if we had to go out we would pick having a margarita at Pure Taqueria in downtown Woodstock.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would like to shout out to all the fans who support our music and to Lee Davis for always encouraging us to write music and always opening up his studio to produce our music. It takes a village. We are thankful to every single person who is a part of our tribe and continues to support us as artists.
