We had the good fortune of connecting with Greg Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Greg, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had some under utilized resources that needed to be put to work. Pretty much it..

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My main business is printing, and it’s a hard business. Printing has changed so much in the past couple decades. I’m probably most proud that we’ve been able to navigate the changes and find market segments that are still thriving and growing and position ourselves in those spaces. I’ve learned that things are constantly changing even when you might think they aren’t. Always be on the lookout for cracks and waves. Ride the wave while you can. Spot the cracks that might trip you up. We’re a small business and the one trait I think is important for us is our ability to outwork the competition. We try to make it easy for a customer to do business with us, so they can go concentrate on stuff that matters to them and not worry about the packaging/printing side of things.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m pretty boring. We’d probably end up sitting outside by the firepit every night and drinking beer/listening to music and talking about stuff..

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My kitchen manager back in college. He was the manager of the Copper Cellar kitchen in Knoxville TN. I washed dishes. He was an awesome motivator and I loved working for him. Hard worker through and through.
