We had the good fortune of connecting with Glenn Murray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Glenn, how do you think about risk?
I think about risk from a big picture perspective. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. And everything worth winning is worth taking some measure of risk. In my life and career I look at where I come from (a pretty depressed area of the country in the deep south) and what I’ve managed to achieve even with the majority of expectations low. The same for my businesses. Almost every one of them was started with some doubt expressed by someone once the idea was shared. I look at what we’ve done with 220 publishing and what we’ve been able to do in our joint ventures and I’m proud to say I took the risk. My advice to anyone hoping to achieve some measure of success and satisfaction. I would say take the risk, you’ll be surprised at how much you’re capable of doing.

What should our readers know about your business?
220 Communications was created from the idea that a number of creative endeavors could feed off each other and grow into an enterprise. That was the goal when we were just a small events company trying to make a name for us in Chicago. We then created 220 Publishing, and from there 220 Marketing and eventually Wine Crawl. From the content library we teamed with a streaming network to produce shows featuring our authors and now, many years later we’ve had several successful titles ..our marketing arm has branched out and is working on new customers outside of publishing. I’m most proud of the lives that have been changed as a result of some of our releases.

I want the world to know that if they haven’t heard of us, they will. And I want them to know that I work with a group of immensely talented people and they need to check out all our stuff!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I split time between Chicago and Atlanta so here’s a taste of both

Atlanta
Food: Twisted Soul Cookhouse and Pours great food love Chef Deborah Van Treese is a food artist!
Drinks: Lets head to Avondale Estates and Purple Corkscrew for a Wine Tasting
Music: Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint
Late Night: Whiskey Mistress …drinks, music, and more..

Chicago
Food: Girl and the Goat …really any restaurant in the West Loop but I had to pick one.
Drinks: Again multiple choices but City Winery is a favorite
Music: Catch a Show at City Winery or House of Blues
Late Night: (Tie) House of Blues Foundation Room (Private and Sexy) or The Aviary – Creative Drink Presentations and extra Sexy

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this to the people who really make my businesses shine. My teams at 220 Publishing, 220 Marketing and my franchisees at Wine Crawl . Also my partner in G-Rose Productions Keisha Rose who I’ve been able to create the show “Books and Bottles” “Making Love Better Twogether” and “Live From the Cave” along with our network Inde TV and General Manager Rodger Jackson. My castmates on Live From the Cave – Mel Roberson, Shawn Mason, and Robert Hazzard.
