We had the good fortune of connecting with Gaylon Lerch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gaylon, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Everyone assumes architects just design and draw fancy buildings with little to no regard for budget or utility, but in reality the 90% of professionals practicing on a daily basis are actually in charge of keeping projects within budget, on time, and realistic in terms of build-ability. Architects act in many cases as the client advocate as well when dealing with trials during design and construction. Architects also have the paramount purpose to protect public welfare by creating buildings that fail strategically, and function in a way that keeps occupants safe in disaster conditions.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Lerch Designs is a small architecture firm specializing in residential and light commercial projects. Although we produce architectural drawings and projects visualizations, what we are most proud of producing is happy clients. Happy clients are a byproduct of not only great design work, but great back end support provided to the end client. Many times in today’s fast paced business world, the end client or the end user gets forgotten about, their phone calls and emails left unanswered as their frustration grows. On top of proudly providing great architectural services, we believe that a focus on customer service sets us apart from other similar businesses. We are hands on, eager, and always ready to help the client get the most out of their budget and their project development experience!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In the area of Dallas GA, I would start the day visiting Franicks Cafe for a hearty breakfast or early lunch, then head to the downtown strip for some interesting shopping and excellent coffee and spend the afternoon with the local vendors there before wrapping up the evening st the Vintagr wine bar. The owners are great and so it the wine selection.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shout out firstly to my lovely wife Maryann who has pushed me and given me the necessary support to become the best that I can be and pursue my dream of becoming a practicing architect.
Secondly my mentor Mark Freeman of Petra Architecture deserves a shout out for giving me the final push and sage wisdom to take me from college level designer to registered architect. Without His professional support in pushing my project quality, my knowledge base, and my standards would not be what they are today.
