We had the good fortune of connecting with Gary Beals and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gary, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Growing up, I was always passionate about music. I was drawn to the way it made me feel so making the decision to pursue a career in this field was a natural choice. Music has been my therapy, my ultimate form of expression. It’s not just an outlet; it’s my way of giving back, it’s my gift to the world.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey in the world of music has been a deeply personal and transformative one. What sets me apart is not just my music but the emotional and creative depth that I infuse into each of my projects. It comes from a very authentic place. I believe my distinctiveness lies in my unwavering commitment to creating music that’s not only sonically engaging but also emotionally resonant. I pour my heart and soul into every song I create and if it doesn’t feel right to me, than I wont release it. My intent is to evoke a range of emotions when it comes to my music, whether it’s joy, introspection, or a sense of liberation. I am most proud of how I continue to carve out a path for myself on my own terms. As an independent artist, I have released 3 independent projects that I am very proud of – each project my desire for music heightens.

My professional path hasn’t always been easy. It has been a journey of persistence, resilience, and unwavering dedication. Over the years, I have worked tirelessly to develop my skills and refine my artistic vision. Overcoming the hurdles required an unshakeable belief in my craft, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn from both successes and failures. I am grateful for the journey of ups and downs as it really has shaped me into the person I am today.

Some of the key lessons I’ve learned along the way include the importance of staying true to self, even when faced with external pressures or trends. Authenticity is the foundation of my work, and I’ve realized that my audience connects more deeply when they can sense the honesty in my music. I’ve learned to trust myself more. Trust that melody within.

I want the world to know that my brand and story are a reflection of the human experience. I create music that mirrors the emotions and stories we all carry within us. I hope that through my music, I can inspire others to explore their own creative passions and find the courage to pursue their dreams. My story is one of perseverance, faith, and the enduring power of music to touch the soul. I am excited about what lies ahead and I’ll continue to craft meaningful music in hopes that it resonates with people on a profound level and serves as a soundtrack to their lives.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love hosting friends and family who visit here in Toronto. To start we would definitely hit up a breakfast spot called George St Diner. I love this spot for their hearty breakfast options. Explore some art museums in the city inclusive of the Ontario Art Gallery to check out their latest exhibits and the Royal Arts Museum. I love nature, so we’d definitely go for a daytime hike one of the days followed by some evening fine dining. We would definitely hit up some live music venues in the city. The CN Tower is a tourist spot so that would be a given. Rhum Corner a Haitian restaurant in the city is another restaurant we would hit up and Gus Taco’s for the best tasting tacos in the city. We’d have to take in some nightlife in the city possibly hitting up Lavelle on King Street. A day trip to Niagara Falls would be a way to end the week long trip.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My father who has been an amazing and consistent support system for me over the years. His love and support has been unwavering and for that I am truly grateful.
