Meet Finda Tiah | FaceByFinda- Makeup artist, Wig Maker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Finda Tiah and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Finda, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
This is something difficult I’ve faced in my journey of being a Make-up artist because I’vw given up before. Few years back, I give up on my passion because of my fear of thinking I won’t succeed and comparing myself to other makeup artist. But throughout the years, as I’m evolving and business is expanding, I feel I’m winning more and more each day because I’m learning and growing each time I experiences a loss/failure. When I feel like I want to give up, I meditate and think “Do I still have the passion and love for what I’m doing,” “Is my hardwork being paid off,” Once I can confidenly answer “yes,” then I gotta keep going. I strongly believe in myself, my work and put in consistency, therefore, I know to keep going and will get where I want to be.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Growing up, I always had an interest in makeup and the beauty Industry as a whole, so I started doing makeup and hair as just something fun on myself and family members. With time, I perfect my craft and I grew to love doing it. I believe I am where I am today due to the encouragement and support of my loved ones (willing to let me practice on them, giving me words of courage when I felt like giving up); above all, knowing that I have a daughter, giving up was not an option. So I don’t think I chose the path of beauty. I feel like it chose me because overtime and with each passing day, I am working harder and harder to improve my skills. I love making women feel beautiful and it’s the smile on their faces once they see the final look that makes it all worth it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is actually interesting because most time when I have friends or social media followers who comes to Atlanta, they always hit me up to show them around or suggest a spot to hang out. I’m big on trying different restaurants/ lounges or just any new adventure in Atlanta. I have few options of places to eat, drink, hangout. Brunch wise, I’ll have to say The Select in Sandy Spring and Toast on Lenox. There’s few I’ve been to but those two will have to be my fav cause of the brunch food literaly melt in my mouth. Lounges wise, most of time, my friends and I are either at a lounge we searched on Tiktok or Evagandi lounge( African spot). There are lots of great places in Atlanta from making a cake with your girlfriends ( Cake and Sip) to just taking pictures ( Gurl Mob Museum) .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a whole village to thank and dedicate my shoutout to. Like I stated previously, I’ve given up before on myself and my passion. From the beginning, when I started doing makeup, my cousin Blessing was my first support system and still is to this day. She believe in my work when it wasn’t even a work lol. As I’ve grew and my work perfect, my social media followers, my close friends and my family all became very supportive and pushes me everyday today. I am forever grateful because I know they are rooting for me even if I’m not rooting for myself. I owe them all the credit and dedicate this shoutout to my village.
