We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Leib and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erica, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
There wasn’t much of one! I wouldn’t classify myself as much of a preparer and so I just jumped into coaching knowing the immediate step I needed to take which was to become certified. Once I completed my program and had the theory down, I went on to build my confidence with taking as many practice clients as I could. I offered a free, 3 week package and then a sliding scale, pay-what-you-can rate. I saw this as a symbiotic relationship that would benefit my learning, as well as share service to others who were interested. I “marketed” myself through my Instagram and to this day, still rely on that platform to share my offers.

As I was building, I hired someone to create my logo via Fiverr, set up my website through Squarespace, and received inspiration from nature one day while hiking amongst waterfalls to name my business Finding Flow. It felt significant – listening to the water gave me such a sense of peace and ease. This is what I wanted to help my clients feel as well. I established my LLC through ZenBusiness and boom – I started my business.

What should our readers know about your business?
I consider myself a Holistic Life Coach because of the wide array of experiences I’ve had and the modalities I seek to receive personally and provide for my clients. I spent 10 years in the tech / customer service realm and can relate to many folks who are trying to break out of that industry or generally, are looking to make a shift into greater alignment with their career and beyond.

Leaving that world and prioritizing my wellbeing, while creating a business is what I’m most proud of. It hasn’t necessarily been easy, but it’s been the most rewarding and authentic experience I could have ever imagined it to be. I genuinely believe that I’m doing my life’s work now and that I can share my gifts with others, so that they can do the same. Through this process, I’ve learned so much about myself and how I relate to others. It feels deeply healing to be in this space, at this time now.

I’ve learned how to be in my own truth and with that, I can really trust myself. I spent most of life not living in alignment, but playing out what I thought I should be doing. This created a lot of inner resistance and thus, anxiety and depression. I credit this “dark night of the soul” as my greatest teacher. I didn’t understand it at the time, but looking back I can clearly see that I was making decisions from an inauthentic place. Resourcing and INVESTING in myself with different coaches, healers, books, podcasts, and experiences that actually nourish and fill me up has been the key learning for me.

I want people to know that by nature, I’m an empath, a nurturer, collaborator, and no-bullshitter. Being a former Customer Service leader, getting shit done – but with compassion – is my specialty. In spiritual lingo, I’d like to believe I’m balanced with the masculine and feminine energies. I love helping my clients achieve breakthroughs and aha-moments, as well as work through their blocks and obstacles, but at a pace that’s sustainable for them. My agenda is simple: to be present with and deeply focus on your needs.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Asheville, so there’s a plethora of great eats but what people come here most for, are the mountains. An agenda in the life of me would look like:

Monday: We’d go to Summit Coffee in River Arts District. If there’s space, we could hang out for a bit and if not, we could walk along the French Broad River. We’d go to White Duck Taco for lunch and come back home for some work. We’d cook a nourishing meal for dinner.

Tuesday: We’d grab breakfast tacos at Taco Billy and take a walk at Richmond Hill Park. We’d check out the local pottery galleries in the River Arts District after and head home for work. For dinner, we’d go to Nine Mile in West Asheville.

Wednesday: We’d get breakfast at Home Ground and head to Graybeard for the magical beauty that’s on that trail. We’d stop to walk around the town in Black Mountain and go to the Bush Farmhouse for lunch or early dinner.

Thursday: We’d head to Daniel Ridge Loop for the day and be amongst the beautiful waterfalls there. At night we’d go to a Qi Gong class and have dinner at Rhubarb,

Friday: Take an early morning yoga class at Asheville Yoga Center and get breakfast after at Pulp & Sprout, Liberty Cafe, or All Day Darling. We’d work during the day and then go get our live music on at One World Brewing. We’d eat at Haywood Commons for dinner.

Saturday: In the morning, we’d go to Skinny Beats for a sound healing class. Afterwards, we’d walk around downtown and stop at Bharami Brewing or Burial for a beer and lunch. At night, we’d get together with friends here who have recently started hosting evenings centered around play, creativity, and expression.

Sunday: We’d get up early and get the best pastries you’ve ever had at Owl Bakery. We’d then go to Ecstatic Dance and spend the rest of the afternoon on the front porch, listening to the birds, some great tunes, and just enjoy each other’s company.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am beyond blessed to have received so much love and support on my journey. From my parents, grandparents, friends, husband, in-laws, former colleagues, coaches, therapists, and healers, I feel that I’ve been set up for success.
