We had the good fortune of connecting with Elyssa Webb and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elyssa, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my business/career has taught me is no matter how much work you put in, you still have to be patient and understand that the way you want your business takes time. It has taken me awhile to understand this myself, but once i decided to not repeatedly stress myself out about the outcome, things became better for me. Yes, you want to work for your business or career, but what good is it if you’re overworking yourself?

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I believe what sets me apart from others is my confidence in my business. I don’t believe in failure when it come to my business. When things are slow i just continue on and not dwell on the what if or what could’ve been. I’m most excited about the outcome of my cosmetic line. Knowing that one day, I’ll own a company that many will enjoy excites me. I got to where i am today because I never gave up. I have bad days and i have good days. Both are part of owning a business. No it wasn’t easy at all and it’s only going to get harder but it will make me stronger in the end. I overcame the challenges by learning to not stress over everything that doesn’t work in my favor business wise. I’ve had plenty of days and nights where i questioned myself and my business and i never wanna do that again. I want the world to know im a genuine and creative person. I express myself through my products by thinking of not only my own interests, but the interests of potential customers.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being that I’m from Chicago, I would take them downtown. I love the Shedd Aquarium, so I would take them there. Next I would take them to Mastros, the steak house. A good place to visit would be Navy Pier. They’re one of the most popular tourists places in Chicago. Another place that is good is the Shake Shack where they have some of the best burgers. A good place to hangout and have good drinks is at a place called The Rennaissance. It’s also a lounge with good music. A fun place to go would be Accelerate. A go-cart place for kids and adults. To end the week, we would also have to eat Harold’s Chicken. If you’re familiar with Chicago, we have some of the best mild sauce.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! I’d like to give a shoutout to my family. No matter the road, they’ve supported me since day one of deciding to start and grow my business. Can’t thank them enough.
