We had the good fortune of connecting with Elisha Nain and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Thought process behind starting a business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was, “I’m ready to show women how to heal their menstrual pain through herbal medicine.” Immediately after I resigned from my position at SCAD, I devoted the next years of my life to womb wellness. I founded Homebody.live because every day I get to use my yoni health certification to show women how to reduce menstrual pain through herbal medicine. To put all of my energy into this worthy practice is beyond humbling.

Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
What a beautiful question. Haha I know I tend to say that a lot, but the truth is I love a compassionate interview question. Yeah I’ve been studying womb wellness for 5 years now; even while I was at SCAD I was very grateful to be given space to study a skill that can heal so many. I especially want to thank Civil Liberties and Public Policy community in Amherst, Massachusetts for inviting me to my first panel on the history of womb wellness in America, how the American system negatively impacted women and their wombs and what the womb wellness community is doing now to ensure that we heal women holistically and medically from unnecessary pain.

From a nutritional standpoint, my family at Collective Fare in Brownsville, NY was instrumental in showing me how to create a food regime that can help women not only heal but sustain a healthy womb. Getting these humbling lessons on food has changed the lives of myself and my clients.

Additionally, I want to thank Nae, from @Wombmansentuition and the team at Avail Counseling. Nae was the first woman to give me a yoni steam and she put me on a path to womb healing that jolted me to get my certification and take action in my own community. Avail Counseling honored me with a Yoni Steaming certification and open doors for me to share my gift.

And of course, I want to thank my family – for their overwhelming support guiding me through a path of service.

Please tell us more about your business. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Homebody.live is a community committed to helping female entrepreneurs reduce menstrual pain through herbal medicine. What makes this group unique is that we are very serious about marrying the holistic with the medical. We are for the OBG/YN, getting the proper test you need to ensure you are in proper care, and finding the medicines you need to reach your natural flow through proper food regime and herbal medicine. This community is totally free and accessible on facebook group: Facebook.com/groups/homebody.live

Within the Homebody.live community, I have a 12-week intensive program. The program includes 1-on-1 sessions with me and a customized womb routine that helps all my Queens get to the womb health that lets them live blissfully. Women can come to me to see how they can bring their wombs to optimum health so they can perform at their best in their business.

I feel the most difficult part about building this business was trying things out on myself so that my clients don’t have to go through the worst. It was very Ironman-building-a-new-heart but for the womb, ya feel me? And ya know, I would do it all again because it means that I did the work to put my Beloveds on a smoother path that gets them to the next level.I remember the days I hated when my period would come. I remember the cramps right before it came and the four 4 days of suffering and clotting that came with it. I remember getting on birth control in hopes of controlling it, and while the periods were fewer, the pain was deeper. The clots were bigger. I remember talking to other women about their periods: about passing clots the size of grapefruit… about suffering seven days of an excruciating period where you’re bed ridden but you can’t sleep. Where you’re popping pill after pill after pill but your body becomes immune to the painkillers, where you’re losing precious time with your family. Time at work. 1 week of not being able to be with or provide for the people you Love. It’s 1 week per month. There’s only 52 weeks in a year and 12 of those weeks are spent in perpetual fear of your period, in pain, angry, crying, suffering. And when you told your Mom about how painful your periods were, she simply said, “That’s just how they are. And it gets worse over time.”

Well… my Mom was wrong. No one’s period has to be painful. Beloveds can reduce the size of their clots simply by changing what they consume. I need more of my Queens to understand that they can live a pain free period life, so they can keep making their money, spending quality time with their family and especially when they want to have a family of their own, their body will be ready. And I can guarantee this transformation in only 3 months. Shoot, I did it in 1.

I created Homebody.live because I’m a womb wellness coach on a mission to show Beings that our bodies are not prisons: They are sanctuaries. I focus on showing women how to reduce their menstrual pain through herbal medicine to ensure this mission rings true. I do this because I truly feel like this is my true life’s purpose to help women live a more fulfilled life by obtaining OPTIMUM health, experience euphoric bliss and embracing the newfound Beautiful LIFE they have actualized within themselves and the sanctuary that surrounds them.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc. In your view what are some of the most fun, interesting, exciting people, places or things to check out?
One thing people gotta know about me is that I’m a true small-town girl, and I love visiting small towns! I recently made a road trip to Manchester, New Jersey. I originally went there to learn more about their agriculture, yet I was humbled by how tight knit the community was. How everyone really did feel like they knew everybody. It’s a beautiful Naval Base where anyone can experience the four seasons. If you were with me, you would also be charmed by the simple living.

We would set our bags down in the nicest Quality Inn because YA KNOW ya girl got Choice Hotel points. We would then go to Walmart and get some really good sandwich delicacies for our day trip in the Jersey Wilderness. I’m talking about a roasted portobello sandwich squished between arugula and spinach, drenched in raspberry poppyseed dressing and mustard seeds… with a side of grilled artichoke hearts… can you say PLANT-BASED HEAVEN?

Anyway, we are going to drive onto Hope Street during a snow flurry and park around the evergreens, eat, be at peace, and watch the snow captivate us and set the mood for our dreams. Sleep… Then BEEP BEEP (not joking, this whole scenario actually happened to me) a local named Keith with a big golden pickup truck is going to wake us up and let us know, “Yo, I think you’re going to get stuck.” Frankly, this did indeed happen. Yet once again a local came through! Keith pulls our little 4 door compact hatchback out of the snow while I get to ride his Wild Ride of a monster truck. I think you’d be impressed, and I know you would enjoy it.

After our Winter Wonderland turned blizzard adventure, we would head back to the Quality Inn, be grateful that we lived and plan out our adventure for the next day.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

In terms of literature, the text that has grounded me the most through womb wellness is Sacred Woman by Queen Afua (THE book on womb wellness), Grant’s Atlas of Anatomy (because the womb is connected to the entire body, you gotta learn it all, ya feel me!), The Old Testament (because it takes Faith to commit to healing every day), and It Didn’t Start with You: How inherited family trauma shapes who we are and how to end the Trauma by Mark Wolynn (A book reminding me that the womb cycle is a life cycle and by reducing menstrual pain for one woman, it can reduce menstrual pain for her future generations of women).
