We had the good fortune of connecting with Ebony M. Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ebony M., is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My absolute favorite affirmation is, “All things work!” It stems from a Biblical Scripture, Romans 8:28. The entire scripture reads, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” This reminds me that no matter what I am encountering, what I may encounter, or what I have encountered – it ALL works for my good, for my benefit. Life can throw some extremely hard blows. But with every circumstance, my desire is to let those three words be my compass; All things work! And while many things may happen that hurt, that are uncomfortable, that are confusing, or downright unfair, I continue to remind myself that those things still have the propensity to work for my good. They are intricate parts of God’s blueprint for my life. I like that it centers me and helps me refocus. It serves as a simple reminder on the days where I feel like nothing is working for me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As an author, speaker, ghostwriter, and more, I’m just glad to not look like what I’ve been through! I know many people use that as a cliche but that is my truth. My passion and excitement from that is felt in the work I create for myself and others. What sets me apart is the fact that I don’t try to compete with anyone else. I don’t follow trends and try to figure out how I can fit in with the popular or exceptional. I choose to walk in my own authenticity; those who are assigned to benefit from it will and those who I’m assigned to serve through it will be served. And it is with that same mindset of servitude that I’ve been blessed to do what I do. From Hollywood celebrities and entertainers to politicians and entrepreneurs, from ministry endeavors to marketplace encounters, I am so blessed to be where I am. The great part about it is that I’m just getting started. It’s crazy to imagine a little girl who endured molestation, abandonment, and low self esteem to now be in a position of pulling others out of those same mindsets. It wasn’t easy, but my pain was created to propel someone else.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Fayetteville, NC is a lovely military town that has much history. From museums to fine dining, from shopping to the arts, there is a diverse culture to experience. You can travel East of Fayetteville and get to the beautiful beaches of NC in as little as 90 minutes to 2 hours. Or a short drive down I-95 South can lead you to the beautiful beaches of South Carolina. I definitely would plan a picnic at the Botanical Gardens, right in the heart of Fayetteville. For live music and great food, Marley’s on a Friday night is a must. If there’s a comedy show or a concert at the Crown Coliseum, we’ll get front row seats. And for the nature lovers, a nice canoe ride at Lake Rim Park is in order. A 30 minute drive to Smithfield would lead us to great shopping options. For those friends who desire a more fast paced city scene, Raleigh is just an hour away and Charlotte is 2 hours away. No matter where we end up, we’re going to have fun and make memories. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I can think of a few exceptional elements to mention. We are nothing without our village. First, I have to shoutout the beautiful ShaQuita Pope-Maxwell. She is the Founder of “Jus’ Networking Girlz,” which is a powerful female networking group. I’ve encountered so much support and great clientele because of this organization. I also have to shoutout the amazing women I’m blessed to serve, via my mentoring group called “Daughters of Foolishness.” They make me want to become better so that I can serve them better. The Word of God is always number one and I couldn’t do any of this without my awesome husband and family.
