We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Young and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominique, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I decided to start a business it was pretty spontaneous. I was just making a gift using body care products that I made and my mom was like you should sell that. I literally ended up listening to her, which is rare lol, and started a business like a month later. It has changed and grown and now I sell hand made body care products online and at the studio where I do facial treatments. I have always had the thought that I want to work for myself. I am drawn to beauty care so I have been doing my own thing in this industry so eventually I can just work for myself without the need of working elsewhere.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Nique Young Skincare is my esthetician business. I take client appointments for facials in my studio as well as create and sell body care products. When I started my own business I never thought I would be doing more in the skin care industry, but after going to school for esthetics it kind of evolved. I love skin and learning about it and things just kind of grew once I moved to Atlanta. I opened up a studio during the pandemic of all times and to say it has been hard is an understament but being new at this it was kind of a great time. It has allowed me to see my strenghts and weaknesses and forced some self reflection. I have found it to be rewarding and a great time to work out the kinks and be ready for when life is back in full motion again.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well first stop of course is my studio for a facial treatment 😏 what better way to kick off a great trip! I am a breakfast lover and I stay in Thumbs Up. Omg the best! It’s a must while here
Probably visit Sublime Doughnuts a few times because I’m addicted to the cheese danish lol
I would for sure take them to Bon Ton great drinks and yummie food
Bread & Butterfly because super cute 😍 and that Inman Park area has some other great spots. I’m a Chicago girl born and raised so we would definitely head over to Harolds. And I love JCT Kitchen, outdoor seating of course, great vibe delicious food.
And I am really into hiking for some reason (I am not really a nature person lol but I love a good hike) so for sure dragging them to Kennesaw mountain with me, maybe even drive to Amicalola Falls because it’s so pretty. I still haven’t done Stone Mountain so we could experience it together lol. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Ok my mom Pamela Bronner for sure is my biggest cheerleader! My husband Ryan Young is so encouraging and a light when this entrepreneur thing gets confusing and frustrating
And can’t forget my girl Lysandra Leary who I share a studio with and helps mentor me, guides me and always shares the steps for growth with me
