We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ Princess Cut & E. Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DJ Princess Cut & E. Hall, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
DJ Princess Cut (P-Cut) would have young girls approach the turntables while she was DJ’ing and just stare in amazement. They never witnessed a female DJ of color in person. P-Cut would show them how to do a baby scratch and their faces would light up! It was a gratifying yet humbling at the same time. Then one night over sushi we decided to create a safe space for DJ’s to learn the art of DJ’ing and Scratch Out Loud was born.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are Atlanta’s only vinyl DJ experience & school. We offer single and 6-week DJ sessions, SipnScratch Sessions and corporate team building events. Through our Sweetbox Studio we offer audio recording, production, vocal coaching & podcast content recording. Sessions are tailored towards beginners as it provides a solid DJ’ing foundation. We’ve had our share of our struggles however we are proud that our business and audience grew organically from the ground up. Starting in dining room to having several locations. Five instructors, a recording studio, community outreach events, panel discussion, hosted DJ seminars, highlighted on Good Day Atlanta and even hosting an all female DJ competition with RedBull. All those are amazing moments. We are really excited about our Google rating!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There is so much to do in Atlanta. Museums, Art Galleries, Hookah spots, Lounges, Parks. Search experiences or stop by Koncept House and check our the different women owned business for a fun night out!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Friends & family supported us through the journey. Specifically Anthony Gee the owner of Koncept House. Koncept House is amazing maker space located in the Castleberry arts district. Anthony was pivotal by providing us the space to operate when we had to move due to gentrification. He gave us the infrastructure and guidanceto expand beyond our expectations.
