We had the good fortune of connecting with Diliana Malaish and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diliana, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I always strongly vouched for risk taking & I think more people should do it. I feel as though when you do force yourself out of your comfort zone you are able to learn way more about yourself and be able to have unique experiences. Risk taking had landed me unique and different opportunities in the Fashion Industry & met amazing people! during the experience. How I approach risk taking is; I ask myself “if not now than when’? I personally like to take that risk as soon as I can than wait, I find that it can lead to procrastination and contemplation. Sometimes I feel as if it’s good to be impulsive with decisions as it can force you to get out of your comfort zone and sometimes you can get or achieve the things you always wanted to get done.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Womenswear and Menswear designer currently exploring fabrications and different aesthetics. I am excited to showcase all things that I have been working on and bring those experiences to light. I think what really helped me to get in the industry is the connections I made along the way & the fact that I was actively seeking/finding new opportunities. I’ve learnt many things along the way but the most important ones would be being more commercial driven and working with people more that teaches you a lot because you learn a lot from people in your industry when you work together. Always look at my social media/website for updates.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Probably take a long drive to the South eastern coast of Australia and camp there in a tent for a week or stay at Sorrento in a hotel and have some deep conversations, eat lots of food, play some loud music and dance for awhile!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I don’t have someone I would like to specifically shoutout; as I am not surrounded by too many people in my life on a personal level. would like to generally thank every company/brand that gave me the opportunity to work with them or recognised me. Without your support I wouldn’t have the experience that I have today so I am very thankful and grateful for the love, support, and learning lessons. Every experience I cherish even the not so good ones as it had shaped to the person I am today.
