Meet Devona Boone: Author, Speaker and Domestic Violence Advocate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Devona Boone and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Devona, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking a risk is activating your faith. Everything I’ve ever done I had to take a risk…Starting a nonprofit, going to school, starting a business and/or new job. Without the risk I would’ve never known how successful I would’ve been and I probably would have had many regrets thinking about the should of, could of, would of! Everything new requires a leap of faith and faith without works is dead. So inorder to succeed I believe in my vision first and then take the necessary steps required to achieve my vision. Even though I may not understand every step or how it’s all going to come together. I believe that if God gave me the vision as long as I’m obedient and take the risk he’ll equip me with everything I need to accomplish that which I set out to do.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a self-published author. My memoir, A Precious Gem: The Journey Of My Shaping” was written to help anyone who has and is suffering from self esteem issues, self doubting, feeling of being stuck and just life traumas/tribulations. I share my story to help others get free!…Empowering and motivating them to tap within to find the answers they need to becoming their best self.
Writing this book was not easy but it was apart of my healing process and it was NECESSARY!
Throughout my journey I learned that I am not my traumas! My traumas are things that happened to me and help shape my character but does not define/shape who I am as a person. My identity is in God not my trauma. I am who God says I am! None of the bad things that happened to me was my fault and that’s the message I try to convey to all whom read my story. Inorder to get free it starts in the mind. Change how you think about your self and it’ll change how you see yourself.
As I always say, we all have a journey but we must learn to travel through it with GRACE!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Fun to me is SIMPLE. I like bowling, eating out, movies, arcades, theme parks, lounges with good music, food and drinks, comedy shows, music festivals, trail walking or hiking and chilling on the beach. The simple things of life are the best.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Building a legacy for my mom! All I do is for her and because of her. Her life was not taken in vain. Because of Eunice Boone I AM! Rest on my angel.
