We had the good fortune of connecting with Deion Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deion, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
There wasn’t much thought, yet there was a feeling and need for change. I had no goal of starting my own business, and I remember being tired of seeing everyone taking pictures in the mirror with a flip phone. In 2015, I began Delgado Digitals LLC after receiving many inquiries and compliments from the photos I shared. At the time, I had no camera, just a laptop as I would take pictures of my outfits around the university campus.

The resourcefulness that I underestimated is the backbone of my passion as I evolved my business from merely digital photography into web design and business branding. My thoughts have been, “We need more!” More proper storytelling, more space for creatives, and more proper reflection on various cultures and backgrounds.

What should our readers know about your business?
People won’t remember what you did, but they will remember how you made them feel. As a content creator and brand consultant, at Delgado Creations I work with individuals and businesses on their online presence and marketing efforts. Nine times out of ten, my clients are African American women aiming to leave a career in corporate and start something new.

Most proud about the things you don’t see. The conversations and recharge I provide for my clients. Starting a business can have you second-guessing EVERYTHING, so it is rewarding to be able to provide support and remind my clients they are worthy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If it is a nice day, you definitely have to take a walk along the Beltline. Always a good time at 10th and piedmont.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It might be a little cliche to shout out one’s parents. However, I must. My parents not only have shown me a proper work ethic, but they are an influential sounding board for decisions and ventures. I’m the second to start a business, my mother’s first, so I’ve absorbed a lot from various industries my mother consulted growing up.
