We had the good fortune of connecting with Deacon Authority and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deacon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset. I want to provide opportunities for myself and others. I learned that in order to be successful in music that I need several streams of income so I decided to start my own business that provides services to my community. I’m not where I want to be but I know that if work hard it will manifest.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an artist my music is my lifestyle. What you hear and see is truly the life I am living. Who knew a guy from a small country town would be performing overseas and using my God given gifts. My path here wasn’t easy I’ve done it all from interning to putting myself through North Carolina A&T State University. One time my financial aid didn’t go through and I was dropped from my classes. I was so determined to graduate that I continued to attend those classes without being enrolled. I also took on a factory job and worked 12hr shifts until the last day of that semester. By the grace of God I was able to get the money and convince a dean to give me those credits. In college I learned never take no for an answer when you are walking in your purpose. My goal is to teach, train, and encourage the world and to spread the good news.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well of course I would start off by taking them to Busy Bees for for a plate lol. Then we would visit the Dr. King Center. We would check out a roof top restaurant and enjoy the views. Then head down to Lenox or Piedmont Park for a walk.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout my girlfriend and my family because with out them none of this would be possible.
