We had the good fortune of connecting with Dawn Majette and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dawn, what role has risk played in your life or career?
My thoughts on risk taking, well let’s just put it this way, if you never take any risk you may miss out on what maybe your best opportunities in life. Of course there’s always the possibility of failure but you won’t know what would happen until you try. Most successful businesses fail a time or two before they become successful. That keeps me motivated to continue on this journey of entrepreneurship.

My biggest risk that I have taken in my life was packing up my family and my business of 17 years and relocating to Atlanta, GA to start over and continue my life and business here. I am so excited about being here and by far this is the best risk I have taken for me and my business thus far.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the proud owner/stylist of Salon Majette. I have been a salon suite owner for over 10 years and a hair stylist for over 20 years, it is more then a job it’s a passion of mines.
I love making people feel and look beautiful. Seeing the light in there eyes when the service is done is well worth it.

I love working in lower income communities and it may sound crazy but I have a passion for helping those who wouldn’t normally be able to afford hair services. I have had back to school give aways and holiday give aways in those communities. I feel that everyone should and deserves to feel BEAUTIFUL. Building self confidence and lifting self-esteem is one of my major services to my clients.

This journey has been so fulfilling for me, I have learned that helping others helps me the most. This profession has shaped and molded me to be a very grateful woman that then allows me to extend my hand out to people even more.

I’m excited to be a part of the Atlanta, GA community and just love the unity I have experienced since moving here.

Thank you ATLANTA

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being that I’m still exploring Atlanta myself, it would be great to do this with a friend. We can start at Little 5 Points which I love the artistic nature of that little area. There’s alot of little eaterys and shops over there
.
Shopping is a must so Lenox is a definite place for us to relieve stress, alittle retail therapy is always good.

The Atlanta Aquarium is another place I would take them. I am always amazed when I go. I love education and it is definitely educational.

For eats The Breakfast Club is a great brunch spot and Benihana for dinner.

We would do a lot of site seeing of the beautiful home all around the Atlanta area because I would definitely try to convince them to stay…lol

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I really want to dedicate this article to my mom who has been my rock through out my life. She has always supported in all of my endeavors. She strong and she is where I get my strength and work ethics from.
Love her to pieces.
