We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When my son began acting professionally we had no clue about the business and what it entails. We truly enjoyed the journey. However, we made a lot of mistakes and learned some valuable lessons. Others started asking me questions and I started giving so much advice that one day a friend suggested I start a business. I thought how awesome it would be to help others who are starting and educate their parents as well. Something that started for tax reasons became a vehicle to develop, nurture, and submit talent into the industry. Hence, JT Talent Management.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am notorious for having childlike faith! I have done the traditional route. After High school, college, and even a Masters, I have been a part of some amazing organizations and have grown professionally; yielding a total of 22 years in corporate America, However, one day in 2015 I took a leap of faith that was truly life-changing. I left my very good-paying corporate job.

Fast forward, I began to manage my son in the TV film industry who we know now as young Ronnie DeVoe in the New Edition BET biopic and recently B Mickey of BMF.

This life leap brought to fruition JT Talent Management, where my husband and I have had the honor of developing and nurturing the TV film careers of other talented actors. You may have seen them on shows from Queen Sugar, Black Lightning, Dragged Across Concrete, Donald Glover’s ATL, Saints and Sinners, and Prime videos on Underground Railroad. JT Talent has proven to be influential in helping to develop some of Atlanta’s up-and-coming fresh new talent. She has also nurtured the fresh career of her middle son Chase as he appeared in Irv Gotti’s mini series… On the X Factor episode…and has a role on season 2 of BMF as well.

We are a family-based business with family-based morals. We conduct our business like everyone is family. We are happy to have started from simple family beginnings We are proud of the career we have created for our son, but we are just as proud to have a robust client list that shows our ability and love for those in the industry. As a mother, I am adamant about being hands-on and available. I have coined the name “datstagemom” because of the mothering I do with all of my clients, on and off set. We are determined to keep integrity in everything we do and treat each client as if they are the first on the call list. One day they will.

But my leap didn’t stop there…

Realizing that multiple streams of income are an absolute must, I built my online wellness business servicing a vast amount of families to live safer healthier lives as well as helping other women build their businesses as well. Having a team of women in one of the most highly productive teams has been nothing short of a blessing… Producing residual income over 5 figures.

I am a very involved sports mom to her youngest boys. I can be found every weekend beside my husband on a court or a field cheering on our All-Star boys.

This freedom of entrepreneurship soon began to bring light to what had been covered for so long….strained mental health. In my own experiences of anxiety, suicide, and depression I learned ways to combat and prepare and a lot of times prevent these episodes from happening.

I began to connect with other women who were living with similar forms of mental anguish and realized that I was not alone. Through creating the Semicolon Life Hope initiative, I want to conceive that connection. Hoping to create a safe space, I want everyone to have a place to express mental anguish as well as find a resolution.

I have been committed to allowing my vulnerable moments to be others’ strength.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As my friends come into town, we hit all the “cool spots” I like to go to social media and visit the spots that are highlighted. However, I am a historian, I believe to know the city, you need to see the city. We would visit historical places like the Atlanta University Center, The Underground, Atlantic Station, Grady Hospital and all the Peachtree Streets 🙂

We would go to Yandy’s Dancing Crepes and Kandi’s OLG. We would hit up the famous fun skating rink Cascade and relax at the infamous piedmont park…

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shout-out to my mother Connie Perry. If it wasn’t for her cultivating a love for the arts with my son, he would not be where he is. When he was 12 she encouraged him to attend summer camp and the Kroc Center in Atlanta. This is where he discovered his love for acting, singing, and all things “artsy”. She was always on the lookout for programs that would help support his love for acting. From the Salvation Army he was chosen to be a part of an acclaimed theatre company called The Youth Ensemble of Atlanta (YEA). Every Saturday Myles spent time developing his craft and was surrounded by other youth that had similar goals. While studying at YEA Myles received his first audition for The New Edition Biopic. The rest is My mother was so invested that she started working closely with the organization and also became an advocate for all the youth there. And still does.
