We had the good fortune of connecting with Dani Frierson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dani, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
I created The Land of Mirrors to be a carefully curated experience dedicated to total inner reflection and self-care. It is envisioned to be a safe space of empathy, self-introspection, and mindfulness. The Land of Mirrors is where you go to bloom unequivocally and without judgment. It is also, a place of realization that you are constantly evolving, growing, and finding peace during the journey; whatever that may look like.
Earlier this year, I received my Leadership Essentials Certificate from NYU and I posted it to my social media. I was so proud, and I captioned, “Look 👀 👏🏽 I’m coming for all my blessings! I want it all 🙌🏽! How? Only GOD! #praisesgoup #blessingscomedown”
Little did I know you cannot ask God for the good without a monsoon to follow, or that my world would shake in a way that I never could have imagined. I say all of this to say if you want the blessings you are going to have to go through the valleys. But you have to remember that they are temporary and necessary for attaining the lessons of life.
The Land of Mirrors was created, to be a place of introspection and reflection, and when I tell you, this beautiful, safe place has become a haven for me to go when seeking solace. It has given me peace, and joy is currently loading…
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am retired from the entertainment industry and am currently completing my Masters in School Counseling at New York University on May 19.
My goal is to to work for APS and Cobb County Schools in a School Counseling capacity. However, my long term goals are to continue my research as it relates to creating social connections groups for students and families that have been affected by COVID-19 and virtual/ hybrid learning.
My ultimate goal is to have multiple facilities both domestic and internationally that focus on the benefits and positively affect mood in POC and underserved communities utilizing light and plant therapy.
This summer I will be creating a therapeutic space at Westside Atlanta Charter School which will serve as my pilot program, so I am very excited! Additionally, I am hosting along with The Black Man Can, a Free Art Show in my hometown of Hartford, CT at The Artist Collective on Saturday, July 3, 2021. This event is free, however, we are asking for donations for scholarships for Hartford Public High School Students. I am eager to grow my research and really get into my philanthropic bag.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am really a home body and enjoy spending time with my family. However, I would bring them to Ponce City Market to Bar Vegan and Piedmont Park or Silver Comet Trail.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God & my children Mason, Micah & McKenzie
