We had the good fortune of connecting with Danasha Simmons and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danasha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
If I’m being honest, I was completely scatterbrained. I didn’t know what to do or where to start. I began to doubt myself. So many thoughts filled my mind – Can I really do this? was I going to fail? Are people going to be interested? But then I took a moment to myself. I sat down, took a deep breath, opened my journal, and started jotting down my thoughts. And from there, it all started to come together.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
LoreneSzn is a brand for all genders, races, shapes, and sizes. What sets Lorneszn apart from other brands, is our community. We love our ecosystem as much as they support us and we see the importance of giving back. Every October, we celebrate the woman and men who may have experienced and/or continues to fight the good fight against breast cancer by offering them a free unit. No business is easy! I got to where I am today because of consistency, discipline, and dedication. There have been plenty of times where I wanted to give up but I’ve had to remind myself why I do this work, my reason, and the many young women who I can inspire along the way. I am so proud of my growth. October 15, 2020, will make it three years since I first start LoreneSzn. That is major to me! Along the way, there have been many trials. I’ve had to learn that everyone won’t support you or see your vision but that’s not for them to see. It’s your brand, so trust yourself and do what YOU believe to be best for your brand. I want the world to know that what you are in search of is already within you. Be confident in who you are and love the skin you’re in. If I can do it, then you can do it too. This is your sign! The time is now. Get up and work towards your dreams. Time waits for no one.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta is the place to be for any occasion! There is always something going on in the city. It could be Wednesday night and trust me, there’s a move to be made. If my best friend was in town, we’re going to eat! The black-owned restaurant here in Atlanta are unmatched. I’m taking them straight to Big Dave’s Cheesesteak. His food is to live for and so worth the wait! Next stop Mall of GA, I love to shop and they say it’s one of the biggest malls in America. We would have to visit Lenox mall to see different options, because like I said, I like to shop. Ponce City Market is one of my favorite places. You get the best skyline views, you can shop, eat, grab a little cocktail, play some games, or just unwind. It’s the scenery for me. The Beltline is only a few steps away from Ponce City Market. It’s the best place for a nice stroll, watching the sunset, or catching the wind in your hair on a scooter or a bike. The whole place is a vibe. For a nightcap, we’re hitting Escobar. 2chainz’ restaurant offers some of the best music, drinks, and food. I love a place where I can get all 3 in one! Leaving the Atlanta area, we would end our long weekend at Chateau Elan for a spa day and wine tasting. Atlanta is the place to be!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have an amazing support system behind me. None of this would be what it is without them. Shoutout to my grandmother, Lorraine Simmons, who is the inspiration behind LoreneSzn. To my late father, David Simmons, he is my motivation and the reason I wake up everyday to do this work. I’ll always go hard in everything I do because of him. To my mother, Ethel Simmons, she is my right hand and superwoman. Without her it would be many long nights spent alone. She’s been there every step of the way throughout this journey and I can’t thank her enough! Shoutout to Dapper Dave, my favorite stylist and oldest brother, always getting me together, pushing, and encouraging me not to give up. Shoutout to the amazing woman behind the camera, @ClickMani, without her these shoots and promotions wouldn’t exist. She’s my marketing guru and very close friend. I could go on and on but to all of my friends and family, I love you all so much! Y’all are my village. None of this would b possible without y’all by my side, so thank you. Thank you for seeing my potential and always pushing me to be better. Thank you for the repost on the internet and spreading LoreneSzn word of mouth. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank ALL of you guys.
