We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Whitman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My path to get here defiantly was not easy. I’ve worked in the news industry for over 20 years. People always recognize me as one of the best on air talent at all the stations I’ve worked out. However i did not see myself in that light because being in the media and how you look and sound no matter what type of day you’re having is judged daily by viewers. This type of constant stress can also play a negative role on your mind. It took me a while to over these uncertainties or self doubts that I had on myself and to be able to overcome those fears that I’ve had for so long. Doubts was one of the most difficult things I had to overcome with being in the tv business. After I finally broke those chains I became understanding of what was the source of the issues that brought on my self doubt and I just wanted to be able to help others break their barriers of self doubt a lot earlier than later.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When I have friends that visit the area I always know we’d have a great time visiting Ponce City Market, Truist Park and also enjoying tasty foods at Bar Vegan.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to credit my Shoutout to my journalism professor down in Natchitoches, Louisiana Mrs. Mary Brocato for having faith in me and being the driving push behind my career in television news. And also my beloved Mom Irma Jean Glover who without her love and guidance I would not be the strong courageous loving and fearless woman that stands before the world today. My loving and amazing Mom made her transition on May 5th of this year after a surprising battle with Pancreatic and Colon cancers.
