We had the good fortune of connecting with Cristie Wilt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cristie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
ATL Sitter is actually not my first business venture. I’ve been down this path before as a franchise owner of a similar childcare service in Indianapolis that I launched in 2016. While I was the top performing franchise owner and location, I felt somewhat limited being in a franchise model and I didn’t really have the freedom to make the decisions that I felt were important. My family and I had also made the move to Atlanta and while I was able to manage my franchise in Indy from afar, it wasn’t ideal, and I eventually decided to sell it. I wanted to bring what I’d learned from that experience here to Atlanta and I knew that this time I would have the opportunity to do things the way I thought would be best. I also realized that I really enjoy working with families and helping them find reliable childcare and I knew it was something I was good at.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Hiring amazing sitters and ensuring they receive top-notch training has been crucial to the success of our brand. As amazing as our website and platform is – with its numerous capabilities – it’s the sitters representing our brand and outstanding customer experiences they can provide that truly defines our success.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would probably spend one day shopping and dining at Avalon. Another day catching a Braves game and hanging out at the Battery. I’d take them for a drink and watch the sun set at the Roof of Ponce City Market. I would take them to watch a show at the fox and dine at either La Tavola or La Grotta. If they bring their kiddos I would take them to the World of Coke and Stone Mountain.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
“Behind every great woman is another great woman.”
I wouldn’t be where I am without my incredible business partner, Morgan Clark who created the Smart Sitter platform that ATL SITTER operates on. Additionally, I am so very grateful for all the other woman-owned business in the Atalanta area that have chosen to support me and been willing to cross promote or collaborate with ATL SITTER. Also, the majority of our sitters are female, and I couldn’t do this without them, they are the backbone of our business, and I am so incredibly proud of the amazing young women we have on our team.
