We had the good fortune of connecting with Chyna Love and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chyna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly, I’ve been an Entrepreneur all of my life. But this particular business came from a place of desperation. God gave me the vision for the Voxtail while I was living in a shelter with my 2 kids in 2014. I started a 30 day fast to be able to focus and find a way out and GOD spoke directly to me. I knew my creation would change how people viewed healthy eating. After 4 years of perfecting the recipe, I launched Bad Gyal Vegan in 2018.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
B.A.D. is an acronym for Blessed, Ambitious & Determined. We are the first Caribbean fusion vegan restaurant/company in the world. B.A.D Gyal Vegan was founded by Serial Entrepreneur, Foodie, and Creative- Chef Chyna Love. Chef Chyna created this concept in a New York City homeless shelter with nothing but pure creativity, faith and ambition. Every single item on the menu is authentic and ingenious from the recipes to the names. All of our concepts are trademarked and every dish is made from scratch. Our signature dish is our vegan oxtail coined Voxtail™. This staple dish attracts people from all over the world and is our main claim to fame. Chef Chyna’s Jamaican, American, and Asian roots can be tasted in every bite and reflected in our dishes such as the Yankee Jerk Burger™️. We have a very unique niche with a dedicated following that is excited to continue to be BAD as we expand worldwide!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly, we’d eat BAD Gyal Vegan day in and day out! All of my besties only want to eat our food when they visit!

I’m not an Atlanta Native and I spend a lot time working. I’m looking forward to having some time to really explore the city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
After working on my signature mock meat recipe in private for 4 years, I sent a picture of it to my best friend- Business Strategist- Nicole Hardy in December. She impressed upon me how major this would be and 3 weeks later we were selling plates of Voxtail out of my Brooklyn apartment. She always encouraged me to think larger than life and to operate in excellence. She now manages the corporate side of the BAD Gyal Vegan Empire. Thank you my bald-headed sister for life!

I also have to thank my Mom & Sister for believing in the vision enough to help us open and operate our flagship location in Marietta, GA. They are truly a blessing.

But most of all, I have to thank the Baddies for believing in our brand and supporting us Nationwide. BAD GYAL FORWARD, BAD GYAL PULL UPPPPPP!!!
