We had the good fortune of connecting with Chrystal-Lynn El and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chrystal-Lynn, is there something you believe many others might not?
That your business will not see a profit in the first 3-5 years…
We are in business to make money therefore when developing your plan to launch your business you should include a salary for yourself and allow for expenses. Now, I know not every month will be the same but to say that you shouldn’t expect to make money in the first 3 is ludicrous…you’re basically running an expensive hobby if that’s the case!
Many business owners receive this advice and carry this energy in their business transactions. meaning they don’t question why they didn’t meet their expectations that month because they are expecting to not make any profit.
What should our readers know about your business?
The Curvy Executive is a limitless lifestyle brand showing people how to use the skills they have to earn income online by becoming a Virtual Assistant
What sets The Curvy Executive apart from other businesses in this industry is the 8 years of experience & knowledge we have gained from working with such a vast spectrum of clientele.
The Curvy Executive offers services to the aspiring VA, the current VA, and businesses that are looking to expand their team by hiring VAs. The Curvy Executive also provides Virtual Assistant training at three different levels with an attractive Franchise option at the Mastery level.
What I’m most excited about are our Virtual Assistant Training & Certification Program and our Franchise option!
The road has not been an easy one, I’ve been on many paths. I started as an independent Virtual Assistant overworking myself and not saying no due to fear, I then transitioned to offering only Consulting& Strategy services to where I am now, I’m finally operating in my gift, my true happy place…Training, Mentoring & Speaking. This is where I feel what I have to offer has the most value.
The lessons I have learned along the way of my entrepreneurial journey are:
1. You don’t have to be perfect but you do have to show up
2. Waking up by 5 am is a game-changer
3. Find a good coach and mentor(yes there is a difference)
4. Always remain a student
5. Be willing to serve first
I would like people to know that first and foremost I am a Mother, been one since I was 16. Initially, my driving force was for the betterment of my children, at one point I focused more on my goals than what was best for the kids, about 6 years ago I refocussed my drive to the overall growth, happiness and wealth of my family. Tribe 5(what I call my kids) and I have been through some battles and I would be remised to say we aren’t still fighting some but it’s better together, the fight I mean. I want people to know that you are in control of your own narrative no matter what you have been taught.
My story and brand start with my children because my need to provide for them pushed me to look for better options. I literally went looking for a job and hired myself!
The Curvy Executive as a brand has evolved to a lifestyle brand because our new products show people how to live a lifestyle that allows you to make money using the skills you have no matter your location or situation.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When I moved to Atlanta in 2007 I lived in Buckhead, I love it there! Since then I’ve lived in several counties, if I had someone visit I would probably travel through them all. Saturday – Little Five Points was one of my favourite spots for a Saturday out with the family with Little Five Pizza being a fav! Sunday – The City of Duluth has so much to offer, their movie on the green nights is super fun as well as the food truck festivals.
Monday – Botanical Gardens, it won’t be too busy and we can take in the beauty
Tuesday – A bit of shopping at Lennox Mall & Phipps Plaza with a movie and dinner at the AMC
Wednesday – Can we find a bar?
Thursday – Midtown & the City of Decatur omg so much goodness!
Friday – Well, anything Reggae & Dancehall Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A few days ago my son asked me if I could manifest one thing right now what would it be, my reply ” to have my Grandpa back on this earth but in good health”. We proceeded to discuss why this was my answer and to be honest I really do feel that if he was here things would be so much different. Although I have gained much success in my business, it has been stunted along the way because of issues, some out of my control and some caused by me directly.
My Grandpa was the one person I talked to daily, back then I didn’t take heed to all of his advice but I put it to use today. He was rich with history and encouraged me to not only see things as they are now but to recognize what has been sacrificed for me to have the advantages that I’ve been afforded.
Since I was born until I moved away for college I lived in the same house as my Grandparents, my Grandpa was an integral part of my upbringing. Sometimes you don’t realize the impact until they are gone.
I dedicate this shoutout to my Grandfather, Erskine Eugene Robinson, the man who provided for me and my kids through all my crazy and reckless times, The man that didn’t quite give up on me. My goal is to make him proud, even in spirit I want him to know that all he did was not taken for granted and I truly appreciate him.
