We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Kanu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christina, what do you attribute your success to?
This is a great question. The most important factor behind my success is that I am internally motivated. When I wake up in the morning I do not expect for anyone else to tell me to succeed. I have been intrinsically motivated since I was younger and that has made all of the difference in my life. I tell myself every single day that I am going to conquer the day. I tell my clients that you aren’t going to wake up to a pep squad. You have to wake up ready to handle your business and keep it moving.

What should our readers know about your business?
Christina Kanu Consulting is a business and brand consulting firm. Our clientele ranges from professional athletes to novice entrepreneurs. At Christina Kanu Consulting clients are provided with accountability, support, innovative ideas, business resources, and last but not least enthusiasm and excitement to push them every step of the way. The main goal at CKC is to help clients build profitable dreams. The “it” factor of CKC is that we are willing to get in the trenches with our clients. From the moment an idea is birthed to the time a company launches and beyond we are there. CKC Clients are consulted on every business decision that they will need to make. At CKC clients are held accountable to accomplish each goal. We push our clients to make their dreams come true even when the many obstacles of entrepreneurship get in the way. The journey has certainly NOT been easy. There isn’t an easy path to becoming an entrepreneur. Everyone’ path is different but you have to commit yourself to the process. If you commit to the process then you will reap the fruits of your labor each and every time. I have overcome several challenges by prayer, meditation, therapy, and the support of my “Momager” Elle Harris and Marketing Strategist Rashod Harris. I also have so many loved ones and friends who support me always. Daily I am encouraged by my son Jayce who I refer to as my Junior CEO. He sits in a majority of my meetings and always asks random toddler questions about the work Mommy is doing. I want the world to know that even as a Mom you can still run a business. I have encountered many women who put their dreams aside because of their Kids. Will it be hard ? Absolutely. Will you question why are you doing this? All of the time. But it is important to be an example to our kids of what hard work and perseverance is.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have several favorite spots in the City. I would love to start with a nice walk in Piedmont Park with a hot cup of tea or coffee. We would have to check out South City Kitchen in Buckhead for some lunch. We could also walk around in Buckhead and attempt to catch some views of the city. For a few cocktails and conversation we could head over to the Beltline and check out The James Room which is a Black Owned Establishment. They have some of the best cocktails in the city. After checking out the James Room we would need to head to Oak ATL the hottest night club in the city which is also a Black Owned Entertainment Venue. This would provide a nice time to let our hair down and dance a little bit. On Sunday we could head to the South Side to get a bite to eat at This is It or Big Daddys. Atlanta is great because you never know who you will meet and when. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to two people who have been there since the beginning of my business journey Dr. Elle Harris and Rashod Harris. Thank you for providing endless love, guidance, resources, support, accountability, meetings, interventions, and more over the last five years. Thank you for teaching me how to fly and to believe in myself even when I struggled in believing in myself. I love you both with my all. Thank you for every affirmation, Nah, YESSSS, and have you considered this. There is so much work to do but I am grateful for the journey thus far.
