Meet Charlene Sims: Serial Entrepreneur & Success Mentor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Charlene Sims and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charlene, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m originally from Creola, Al now residing in Mobile, Al. My upbringing consisted of being raised basically on a farm. My family had & still have cows. I grew up with chickens, goats and a garden. I contribute much of my upbringing to the love & some what fern teachings of my parents Charles & Margaret Sims. My mom made sure we knew Gods loving by keeping us in church & my dad made sure we knew the rewards of hard work by his work ethic. They are both now retired and still married over 50 years. 

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a real estate investor whom own multiple properties & I’m a licensed insurance agent as well as a success mentor. I started my business in 2004. It has definitely not been easy but it has definitely been worth it. I’ve opened businesses & I’ve closed businesses but what I never did was give up. All of my businesses begin with the name UNIQUE because that’s exactly what I am. Unique meaning being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else. I’m definitely my brand. My businesses consist of UNIQUE ENTERPRISES WORLD WIDE LLC REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT & BUSINESS SERVICES, UNIQUE ENTERPRISES TRANSPORT & DELIVERY, and my cosmetics line UNIQUE ELEGANCE. I’m a Serial Entrepreneur at its best & I love it. I never say I’ve lost at anything in my business I’ve always gained lessons. So, it’s ok to open & it’s ok to close just make sure you don’t quit.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Mobile, Al the original home of Mardi Gras is always an exciting time in the city & then there’s the Trinity Gardens parade the week following is a must to attend.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give a special shout out to my social organization The Unique Ladies. The formation of The Unique Ladies actually set the tone in my business career. In 2004 it all began & I knew then, if I can deal with that many women with multiple personalities I could handle the business world.

My main motivation comes from my 2 kids Tania aka Tootie and Edward aka Poohman.
