We had the good fortune of connecting with Chari Burke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chari, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always had a creative side growing up. From writing poems, to DIY projects around the house to now having my own printing company. I started printing shirts back in 2018 when my mom first passed. I need something to redirect the negative energy that was build inside of me. I started to each myself how to bring others visions to life. Over the pass two years I have done just that!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would have to say that being a black female in 2020 is not the easiest especially when trying to be come a successful business owner. I believe that always keeping a professional attitude and quick turnarounds when dealing with customers is what sets me aside. As a kindergarten teacher as well it did take me while to find that balance between the both but I wouldn’t change either one of them for the world. I’ve learned that you can’t please everybody but you can’t let that discourage you from what you want to achieve out of your business.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in Atlanta it’s so many places to go that caters to all needs. I definitely would take them to whitehall strip. It’s a few nice bars over there that i think they would enjoy as well as Edgewood (during the day) night life i would make sure they got a chance to see Cascade family skating on a Sunday night.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely would have shout out my love Marlo, he has been supporting me since day and continues to do it with ease. From the many investments he have contributed all the way to just entertaining our kids so that I could work on a order. His support never goes unnoticed.
