We had the good fortune of connecting with Chaneya Joyner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chaneya, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I think this question is something I’ve actually thought about over the past year. Growth on Instagram is hard especially with how saturated the blogging/content creator world is now. Something that I have to remind myself is that I’m on my own journey and my own path. Everything will happen in its own time and how it’s supposed to happen. I need to stop comparing my life and my accomplishments to others who have a completely different life than me. I have to remind myself of why I started blogging in the first place and never lose sight of that. It’s super easy to get down and feel like you’re not growing but when I looked back over the year and at all the things I’ve gotten to do, it pushes me to keep going. In hindsight, if something isn’t bringing you joy and you ultimately hate what you’re doing and there’s no more passion behind it, then I think you should step away and try something else. I don’t like saying “give up,” it just sounds a little harsh.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In my “professional career” I work as a biller but being a fashion blogger really lets my creative feelings flow. I LOVE fashion and always have; it’s one of the things thats always made my standout and to be able to share that on my little platform is amazing. I learned a lot with blogging of how separated it is involving Black and White content creators and how if you’re Black you have to bring twice as much to the table to even be seen. I think there is still a huge disconnect with that but I’ve just learned to do what I do best; Show how much I love what I’m doing, share my passions and keep working my butt off!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love food so I’m going to give you a list of some of my favorite places for each time of the day! Breakfast/Brunch: * Pancake Social * The Warren City Club * 10th & Piedmont * Atlanta Breakfast Club * Folkart Lunch/Dinner *RA Sushi * Two Urban Licks * New Realm *Henry’s Midtown Tavern * Marlows Tavern * Blu Cantina * Bartaco *Fox Bros Bar-B-Q

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Here’s to all of the supportive women that uplift and cheer me on. In a world where women tear each other down, I’m glad to have a little community that really are my cheerleaders and push me to reach even bigger goals!
