We had the good fortune of connecting with Caleb Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Caleb, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks as a young creative and entrepreneur is the key ingredient that will take you to the next level in life.

From transferring schools my senior year of high school to earn a football scholarship, to later transitioning from the football field to becoming an award-winning journalist in college, to now running my media company full-time and opening a podcast studio/creative workspace for creatives – I would’ve never been able to accomplish these feats if I didn’t believe in myself and take risks.

I believe that risk-taking teaches us so much about ourselves while making life exciting.

The adversity paired with the fear of the unknown that comes with taking a risk is what molds us to step into our greatness.

Recently, I quit my 9-5 to run my media company “3 Milli Productions” full-time.

Yes, it was a major risk but it was also calculated. I knew that in order to take my business, my impact, along with my legacy to the next level, I knew that I had to bet on myself and trust the process.

In the words of the great Nipsey Hussle, it’s all about “The Marathon.” The journey is what defines us, and by embracing the journey while constantly taking on new challenges, we’ll be unstoppable.

Overall, risk-taking has played a major role in my life. I’ve started to learn throughout this journey that taking risks is the prerequisite to being legendary.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The art that I create is content and media. My media company along with my podcast is focused on providing a platform for Millennial & Gen Z conversations with a million-dollar mindset.

Hence, I wanted to share my passion and provide a platform for fellow creatives and entrepreneurs by opening a podcast studio/creative workspace for them to network and hone their skills.

I love interviewing content creators, artists, intellectuals, and entrepreneurs who are changing the world around them and who are excited to share their knowledge with my audience on how they could do the same while living their best lives.

Furthermore, I love sharing the lessons that I’ve learned along the way by serving as a content strategist/consultant for my clients. Content creation is my true passion.

So, I love not only providing services regarding podcast interviews to promote entrepreneurs’ and creatives’ businesses, but I also love providing them with a content game plan to tell their story and market their story in the best way possible.

I believe that the key element that sets what I do apart from others is my ability to delve deep into someone’s story while providing them with a comfortable space to express who they truly are. The reason why I enjoy creating content, providing consultations, providing creatives with a filming space, and more specifically interviewing people, is that I’m able to connect with them on a human level while simply having a dynamic conversation.

In my personal opinion, media is the most powerful tool in the world.

Being able to display someone’s story while connecting with them in a personable manner will allow for their story to inspire countless people for generations which inevitably contributes to their legacy. Although it’s such a delicate responsibility, I’m motivated every day to tell amazing people’s stories and doing so by giving them a high-quality and professional experience.

I got to where I am today professionally thanks to the help of incredible people such as my mentor Dr. Jacob English. During my time at the Georgia State Honors College during my undergrad years, I was able to run the content creation/media for the Office of National Scholarships & Fellowships under Dr. English’s leadership.

I was given the tough task of providing a platform for the student body’s accomplishments while also informing my audience in both a fun and educating manner. He challenged me every single day to produce the best articles, the best visual interviews, and projects that I possibly could day in and day out – even in moments when I thought that I couldn’t. I also sharpened my game up more as a journalist by serving as the lead content strategist/journalist for the Georgia State Student Innovation Fellowship Program, being the Executive Producer/Host of the Georgia State Signal Newspaper’s Podcast Department, and interning at Live Hip Hop Daily. Accredited to these roles, I learned the importance of bringing people’s stories to life, how to structure and produce content on a consistent basis, and how to develop the mindset to one day become a media mogul.

In moments where I felt overwhelmed or that juggling everything was just too much (even when I feel that way in present time), I think about the next generation as well as my peers. I tap into what type of legacy I want to establish and one day leave, I believe that it is our job as content creators to create spaces and enterprises for fellow creatives where they can get paid their worth while doing what they love.

That is the sole inspiration behind my company along with creating a studio space for creatives to create in a comfortable environment.

As a result of graduating from college, and experiencing first-hand the weak market for young creatives, I made it my mission to work for myself and create a space for young, talented creatives to go to following graduating from college.

Moreover, a platform that inspires them through our content and potentially serves a place for employment and creation for them to live their dreams in real time. In closing, the ultimate lesson that I learned along the way, is that you must create with a purpose. And the purpose of my podcast along with my company and studio/creative workspace is to inspire, educate, and provide you with the necessary information to make your dreams your reality.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area, the first place that I would take them to hang out, would be “Blend on Kirkwood” , home of 3 Milli Productions. It’ll be opening later this Summer serving as an event space, music venue, fitness center, podcast studio, creative workspace, pop-up shop space, and more! (Shameless Plug).

It’ll literally be a space for every and anybody while providing them with a fun, safe, creative, and family environment.

The next spots that I will take my friends to is Old Fourth Ward Park and the Beltline. I love being outdoors, and being at Old Fourth Ward Park is one of the best vibes in the city.

My favorite spot to eat right now is, “Bellina Alimentari.” They have a vast selection of flavorful wine and their pasta is made in-house.

Then, of course, we would enjoy a nice cold frose’ on the rooftop bar.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a major shoutout to my immediate family, my mentor Dr. Jacob English, my girlfriend/business partner Sydney Harris, and my videographer/producer June Orocio. My vision for “3 Milli Productions” along with my podcast “3 Milli Podcast” would not be possible without these amazing individuals. I’m beyond grateful for the powerful prayers from my parents, the great business advice and marketing insight from Dr English, and the creative direction from Syd and June, they all contribute tremendously to the Caleb that you all see today. Specifically, from the guidance of my father along with my mentor Dr. Jacob English, I gained first-hand experience regarding how to carry myself as a Black man, as a leader, as a businessman, and as a visionary.
