Meet Cabrella Salest | Teacher and Custom Press-on Nails Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cabrella Salest and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cabrella, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was that I always loved getting my nails done and trying new things. So, when COVID hit, and we weren’t able to go the nail salons, I started looking online to see how I can do my own nails. Once I started doing my on nails which were press-on nails and posting them on Instagram and texting my friends, that’s when a few of my friends said how they wanted a pair, so I made some for my friends and their daughters. That’s when the light bulb went off and I decided to turn my hobby into a business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an Instructional Coach/ Preschool Teacher for a Childcare center in the Atlanta area. I always loved working with children and being creative in the activities I do with the children by always thinking outside the box. Working with children is has its good days and challenging but my love for seeing children grow and being able to tap into their inner creativity is what keeps me going. My creativity and hard work are what helps me be able to be a great teacher and business owner. My brand Salest Designs LLC. is another way for me to display my creative skills by playing with different the colors and designs and techniques. I love that it also allows me to showcase different ideas and looks that my customers are wanting. As I always say “Every Boss needs a Pop of Color” no matter if they are and adult or a child.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would go to the Slush for brunch on Sunday because not only is it black owned, but it is definitely a vibe from the music, food, drinks and the customer service. Another place I would go to for nice Friday night vibe where you can listen to good live music is BQE lounge.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my family and close friends that always believed in me when I wanted to start my business and who motivate me to keep going and never give up when times get hard. I also want to thank everyone who has purchase nails from me or shared my post, I am forever grateful and thankful.
