We had the good fortune of connecting with BrownGuyMadeIT and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi BrownGuyMadeIT, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I decided to pursue a creative career because I’ve always been interested in film & it’s a way for you to express yourself.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being creative at the start was not easy, coming from a very low-income household and in and out of homeless shelters it was a struggle to get into a position where I could afford equipment and even at that I didn’t know what I was doing.

My main goal was and always will be to film short films and documentaries on at-risk youth. showing them how to turn a negative into a positive, I jumped right into filming a short on these topics but like I said I had no idea what I was doing so I’ve never released anything.

Being from a low-income household I wasn’t able to afford film school, so I worked event security to 1. buy a camera and while working I was able to network with artists, managers & venue owners and used that to my advantage to start filming nightclubs learning about low-light filming and moved on to music videos. Music Videos was really my film school. With straight hustle determination and grinding you can accomplish anything.
Some of the lessons I’ve learned is not everyone is your friend and not everyone is there to help you along your way, but don’t look at it as a negative look at it as a lesson to help you within the future and to make your character stronger as a human.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I don’t really go out unless I’m filming, but there are quite a few dope spots in Toronto.

Rebel Nightclub is a great spot for concerts/clubbing, Port house is another amazing venue for a night out clubbing.
But we also have some great attractions such as the CN Tower & Ripleys Aquarium.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout wise there are a few people who have been a part of my success, Firstly Johnny Bravo who’s my little brother/manager has always been there to help me with anything and bring me to shoots/offer assistance and another eye.
There’s DJ Andre 905 who has always put me in situations I would have never been able to access without him, Such as lining me up with Major artists when they come to the city to network/film VLOGS for.

The last shoutout I’ll give is Blacka Da Don who not only helped craft the visual artist I am today but directly working with him my work was seen by other artists who in return reached out to me to film their videos as well.
