We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Kelly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I wanted to pursue a career in creative arts because I wanted to do just that, create art! Whether it was on the screen, a canvas or paper, I wanted to create art. My mom says I’ve been telling her and my dad that I wanted to be a star since I was two! There’s something that lights up in me knowing I created something that makes an audience want more!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is I remember where I started in this industry. I keep memories as I constant reminder that even though I feel I may not be where I want to be, I’m definitely further than I was. That alone allows me to not be a gatekeeper to those I know that take what I do seriously. I’ve helped many people get jobs, training and advice to get even just a little further. Unfortunately, a lot of people are gatekeepers in this industry and I know that’s one of the biggest things that sets me apart from others.

The thing I’m most proud of is a web series I wrote, casted, directed, produced, edited, chose the score and locations for called PSYCHED! That was one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever faced in my career. It was to a point where I wanted to quit and throw the script away. Sadly, the guilt of knowing I gave up was something I knew would keep me up at night. The show is available on YouTube on my production channel! https://youtube.com/@artistickbproductions?si=Ss6iItdTJv1xicIT

To be honest with you, I got my first professional production job with the help of one of my best friends Erika Smith. I worked on quite a few low budget productions and wasn’t getting paid either but I wanted the experience. With experience, comes more knowledge and with knowledge comes people that trust you enough to recommend you for jobs. Although this industry is small, it’s also very tight knit. Who you know matters just as much as who knows you and your work ethic. Erika kept putting my name in rooms I hadn’t established myself in yet and it only took one opportunity to prove myself. It’s literally been up ever since! Thank you Erika!

Lastly, what I want the world to know about my story is that I take this seriously. I want people to see me for my work ethic, the way I treat others and the passion to push through no matter what knocks me down! A “no” means absolutely nothing to me, that just tells me there’s better opportunity somewhere else.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in Atlanta there are many things you might come across that might be a good time. For myself, I can be pretty basic sometimes. I love a good movie theater! Going to a movie is probably the first thing I think of when it comes to getting out of the house!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to recognize my parents. The older I get, I love the fact that I can trust them to give me honest opinions about my work. They watch it in awe knowing that everything I said I’d do, I’m doing it, with my whole heart. There’s nothing like both parents supporting the path you chose to take in life!
